Exciting! Looking forward to listening to this. What's it going to take to get another season of Survivor produced in NZ?

If Govt reduces spending from 32% of GDP to 30% of GDP and the private sector doesn't grow, what happens to GDP? Anyone know?

What you day makes sense in relative terms, but the challenge is that in absolute terms we are all accelerating rightwards. We're not even asking Labour to move left - We're asking them to stop sliding right

I agree with everything you say here. I think the bit that's surprising is not that's she's more competent. It's that somehow, despite the Greens' treatment by legacy media as tree-hugging loons, somehow the message has cut through

The difference in NZ is you can still protest Labour by party voting for the Green party & Still end up with a Labour Green coalition that would be proportionally more progressively left wing. Last time Labour actually acted as a progressive left wing party it won spectacularly. #nzpol

So the next time someone says "but it was so expensive, and I wont use it anyway - I drive to the city" we can say that without the CRL, there would be three and a half lanes of ADDITIONAL crawling traffic for you to be stuck in on your drive to work

For those in the back: The total amount the New Zealand government has spent on all historical Waitangi Tribunal settlements over the last 30+ years is less than the cost of a single year of the 2024 tax cuts for Landlords.

In terms of election impact I think this policy might finally break the Greens through. Daughter's two 20-year-old nail clients today said they will vote Greens because of Kiwimart, when they didn't know what the Greens stood for before.

Poverty is a political choice. Louise Upston and National can’t keep avoiding responsibility for their decisions to wrongfully decline support, and their failure to take action to create jobs and lift people out of poverty.

Algae scientist here. There are lots of good micronutrients and minerals in sea moss. You need to be careful not to eat too much because too much iodine is bad for you, especially if you have an underlying thyroid issue. Best thing about it is the fibre, esp. if you don't eat a lot of other fibre.

So typical of global center-left (so-called) parties these days. They have no agency. Things happen to them. They are victims of the actions of the right, the economy, bad luck. None of them realise the power they could yield and that the people want them to

I've seen quite a few opportunities in our Opoutukeha catchment in Tāmaki Makaurau for small sections of daylighting alongside other drainage or infra work that already going ahead. But it didn't happen, because there's no overall plan for daylighting across the city. That's what we need.

Would love to see that too, but the article linked is quite persuasive that a better approach (ala Zurich) would start small, do it incrementally across multiple catchments and begin with mapping opportunities, not planning construction on one significant project theconversation.com/many-cities-...
