Just out in Nat Neurosci: disentangling of neural odor manifolds in "olfactory cortex" of adult zebrafish after learning. Great work by Bo, Nesibe et al and wonderful collaboration with @sueyeonchung.bsky.social that fundamentally changed my view of olfactory cortex. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

New preprint from our group (collaboration with @sueyeonchung.bsky.social) showing that discriminating odor components within a complex mixture is constrained by neural sensitivity rather than background interference - likely due to sparse representations at the front end.

Last year I taught a graduate seminar, "Computational neuroscience in practice", which invited experimental neuroscientists to think computationally about their data. Reflecting on it, the class helped me better appreciate the inherent challenges of this enterprise.
