Shiptember Number 30. Finally caught up with the 2 I missed. This was a fun exercise. I'm not sure what I'll do next. #shiptember #spaceshiptember #spaceship #sketch #art

dang 🥲 I'd love to believe it's still sitting on someone's shelf or in a closet out there, somewhere.

That's sick. Did you get access to other reference material for it? I was kinda surprised how deep I had to dig just to find these pics

Someone more knowledgeable than I could probably ID those tail fins. They're not from a blackbird, at least

Managed to hunt down two photos of the kitbashed model built by Jim Bowers as reference for the original WipEout game, sometime around 1993 or 1994. You can see the logos on it are harvested from other kits- Toyota and Buick logos, USAF roundels, and more that I'm sure someone else could ID

I'm dredging up old posts here, but do you know anything more about that physical model? I'd love to see photos of it, if any exist.

WipEout was released 31 years ago. Since the game is set in 2052, we're already more than halfway there. 😁 A technical gem, this Psygnosis game made a huge splash on the PS1 (and other platforms). Especially with its electro soundtrack and in-game branding & artworks by The Designers Republic.

Idk I found it on Amazon for like $100 The instruction booklet was maybe the worst English translation I’ve ever seen and it genuinely kinda scares me every time I turn on the heat, but by god it does the job somewhat inadequately.

To be clear, this is the only subscriber or follower count that has any meaning to me. Any less than Hinkley is unacceptable. Any more once I’m ahead is immaterial.

I’m like less than 2000 YouTube subscribers away from having more followers than John Hinkley Jr., the guy who shot Ronald Reagan because he was obsessed with Jodie Foster’s character in Taxi Driver

It's consistently funny to me how many elements of the Gundam universe(s) have a really cool, grounded sci-fi aesthetic and then the mobile suits themselves all look like kid's toys

Nicer pics of my Junkros kitbash, and the concept art it's based on. Build video soon.

A grey and green starfighter against a black background. It has the appearance of having been welded together from other Star Wars ships, including the engine from a Y-Wing and guns from an X-Wing

JLF-19 Junkros Fighter from Star Wars Outlaws, in progress.

An unpainted, kitbashed model of a starfighter. Most of the model is white or grey plastic, but there are a few colorful kitbashed parts, and yellow sculpted weld beads. It sits on a cutting mat with drawers, tools, and building supplies out of focus in the background.

I tried a bunch of products and the one I settled on is Plastruct plastic weld. Not as good as the OG but it’s the closest I could find.

I remember being allowed to watch The Matrix on an old laptop when I was 10, in ‘03 or ‘04. When it finished, I went and sat in silence on our back deck. My dad came out after a bit and said “yeah I also needed to Be Outside after I saw that movie.” And then we talked about how awesome it was.

To our dismay, the artist and author Marjane Satrapi has passed away. As she wrote, ordinary Americans and Iranians have more in common with each other than we do with either of our governments, which have far too much in common with each other. We honor her memory and oppose the war.

NO WAR WITH IRAN!
The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West.
You are American, I am Iranian, we don’t know each other, but we talk together
& we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you
& your government is much bigger than the difference
between you & me.
And the difference between me
& my government is much bigger
than the difference
between me & you.
And our governments are very much the same...
—Marjane Satrapi
