Wooden tools crafted by Neanderthals at hunting sites have been found before. For the first time, there's now evidence from a domestic context too. “We know what was happening in the kitchen, in the sleeping areas,” says @iphes-cerca.bsky.social's M. To put this in perspective chestnut trees used to be dominant species in the United States. Billions of trees were killed by fungal blight and now fully grown America chestnuts are functionally extinct. There is no getting them back. Ever. All for a data center. www.gadgetreview.com/one-of-ameri...

Sometimes my wife and I like to send each other text messages as though they’re democratic fundraising messages, and I believe she has produced the jewel of the form.
, it's
and I
have some personal news to share with you.
Being a mom is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I feel deeply that we should have salad tonight
This year has been challenging in many ways, and I have immense gratitude for the kindness and support of family, community, and people like you who have continued to stand by me through everything. It means the world, and I wanted you to be among the first to know that squash is in the oven and kale is in the fridge. As many of you are aware, ve been navigating one of the most challenging periods of my day while waiting for dinner.
Facing baseless federal hunger brought on by not eating since lunch, fighting for the working kids of this country, and now caring for a mean toddler and helping him grow up in a world that isn't always easy. But it has also reminded me exactly why I do this work and who I do it for.
I will never stop working to eat dinner. I will never stop fighting for what is right, even when there is also some feta in the fridge. And I will never stop being so very thankful that you are by my side in this important work and that there is tahini in the pantry for dressing
With love and gratitude,
stop to end

It's an interesting counter to Charles Buckles Falls's 1918 "Books Wanted" poster, part of the American Library Association's campaign to put books in the hands of troops at home and abroad.
Poster image of a World War I soldier in battle helmet and gear holding a tall stack of books reaching above his head. He looks at the viewer. At lower right corner, printed in which are the words "BOOKS / WANTED / FOR OUR MEN / IN CAMP AND / 'OVER THERE' / TAKE YOUR GIFTS TO / THE PUBLIC LIBRARY". Poster background is black; soldier's uniform is dark olive drab; book covers range from brown and gray to orange and beige, with white punctuating page edges.

Thanks for posting! My research wheelhouse: In 1919 this poster appeared in libraries & gov't employment bureaus. American Library Association's #WWI campaign to get books in training camps led to postwar campaign to encourage veterans' use of public libraries to expand employment opportunities.
Newspaper item entitled "Knowledge Wins." Text reads: "'Knowledge Wins," is the title of a poster which decorates the home service offices. The poster is the work of Dan Smith and bears the legend that "public libraries are open to all." The picture on the poster is an overseas soldier in the act of discarding his gun and starting a climb up a staircase made of books to success, depicted as a prosperous city in the painting. The poster is for the purpose of enacting the reading of books by soldiers who visit the offices." From the Ogden Standard Examiner, November 12, 1919.
