Just saw Na Hong-jin’s Hope. Honest review? Act 1: Wow wow wow top 10 monster movie setup OMG these sets; Act 2: Okay, I’ll roll with it; Act 3: WHAT HOW WHY WHO WAAAAAAT. (That said, I’m glad this brand of banana-pants exists, and I’ll take it over Hollywood’s focus-grouped crap every time.)

You go into fatherhood hoping it will feel like a George Harrison song. But it’s actually a polka band falling down the stairs mid-Tom Waits cover.

It finally happened: Spotted a civilian (i.e., not a ProPublica staffer) on the street wearing one of the ProPublica t-shirts I designed years ago. (I know because I chased them down to ask how they got it… then thanked them for donating.)

Would love to give someone on the Google iOS design team a gentle nudge about optical alignment. This new Drive icon is making my eye twitch. (A triangle at a given height reads smaller than a square, and its visual center isn't its mathematical center. Gotta use your eye.)

Went to the park and finished @davidenrich.bsky.social’s Murder the Truth. An excellent, well reported account of the years-long conservative legal campaign to dismantle NY Times v. Sullivan, and why it matters for journalism. Highly recommend.

The John Roberts Court has done more to reduce the political power of poor people and Black people while enlarging the voting rights of rich people and corporations than has any court since Roger Taney was Chief Justice in the 1800s. I opposed his nomination in 2005, and I stand by that.

We have an unhealthy unspoken media agreement in this country that you can’t point out that someone harbors objectively insane, delusional beliefs that should disqualify them from being anywhere near a position of power if said beliefs are colorably linkable to a mainstream religious worldview.
