Absolutely disgusting. Regardless what you think of the punishment, turning it into a public show is grotesque and morally repugnant. wapo.st/4yElwyB

Fort Hood shooter’s execution will be live-streamed, Defense Dept. says
“We’ll make sure that people are able to watch it,” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Thursday about the firing squad execution of convicted Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan.

Just saw Na Hong-jin’s Hope. Honest review? Act 1: Wow wow wow top 10 monster movie setup OMG these sets; Act 2: Okay, I’ll roll with it; Act 3: WHAT HOW WHY WHO WAAAAAAT. (That said, I’m glad this brand of banana-pants exists, and I’ll take it over Hollywood’s focus-grouped crap every time.)

The five-year-old, while drawing: “Yellow oranges invented lamination in 1990. Then they died out in 1997. You can repeat after me for the song.” (Yes, there was a song.)

Good so far. Feels snappier than Tahoe and definitely in a more polished state than that beta was at this stage.

I honestly find it amazing how little credence is given to the fact that local constituencies pick the candidates they prefer and those candidates attributes will differ across the country. The top-down, one-size-fits-all magic bullet candidate thinking has got to fucking stop.

@dansinker.com I try not to take pot shots at design work I don’t feel like I have the inner working context about, but I gotta say this micro-era of icon design feels limp, lifeless, and inscrutable as all get-out. Ex., apps like GarageBand, Automator, Pages, etc used to have personality.

Would love to give someone on the Google iOS design team a gentle nudge about optical alignment. This new Drive icon is making my eye twitch. (A triangle at a given height reads smaller than a square, and its visual center isn't its mathematical center. Gotta use your eye.)

The John Roberts Court has done more to reduce the political power of poor people and Black people while enlarging the voting rights of rich people and corporations than has any court since Roger Taney was Chief Justice in the 1800s. I opposed his nomination in 2005, and I stand by that.

We have an unhealthy unspoken media agreement in this country that you can’t point out that someone harbors objectively insane, delusional beliefs that should disqualify them from being anywhere near a position of power if said beliefs are colorably linkable to a mainstream religious worldview.
