I had shingles when I was 10 (I'd had a mild case of chickenpox when I was a few days old, both of my sisters had it, and my mum didn't notice that anything was wrong). As soon as I can get the vaccine I'm getting it.

She was the first (I think) world leader to talk about the challenges of climate change, although I don't think she enacted any legislation on it. But credit where it's due.

Went to the local monthly farmers' market this afternoon. It's October, I should have needed a jacket. This isn't good.

"The term “lame duck” would be haunting any other president’s sleep. But the concept is alien to Trump. He spends more of his time telling people about his architectural plans than he devotes to Iran, AI or the economy. Insoluble problems hold no interest." My column. as.ft.com/r/928f5cb7-6...

Trump is checking out of his presidency
With no way out of his war with Iran, he is increasingly obsessed with monuments to himself

It's hard to say without analysis of the text of the agreement, but so far, it doesn't seem like the US has anything much it didn't already have under previous agreements.

Last year I had the thought, "Maybe it would be nice to write a collection of stories all set in the kind of places I'd expect to find if I stepped through these portals I photograph on my walks?" It was. And it's now published, and available here: blackwells.co.uk/bookshop/pro...

'Not long ago, Just Stop Oil activists were given long sentences for simply discussing blocking infrastructure. In contrast, the balaclava-wearing gangs now do much the same with apparent impunity. One could almost call it two-tier justice.'

Thinking about a term/concept that a friend of a friend came up with: "Ambient political horror" It's when a work of art pushes your libidinal "Oh my god the world is terrible" buttons without actually giving you a specific warning or message
