Van Gogh left Paris in mid-February 1888 for Arles. When he stepped off the train, he was confronted by a snowy landscape; here, the patchy coverage of the snow is implied through daubs of brown paint and the purplish light of an impending snowstorm.

A century ago it was empty and dilapidated and everyone figured it #OughtToBeHaunted. Today, Kingston's Rosemount Inn is in beautiful condition. But its non-paying guests include disembodied voices, and sometimes even disembodied bodies. Maybe this is where @dbcurren.bsky.social stayed. 👻🎃

On this day in 1982, Glenn Gould died in Toronto. Born in 1932 in Toronto, he was one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century. He won three Grammys, three Junos and is a member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. His music is also on the Voyager Golden Record. 📸 Fred Plaut
