this is really it. I think a lot of the anti-AI movement would be more effective if people in that movement took time to educate themselves on the thing they critic. If anything, it makes you better at fighting your cause.

I don't think this take is wrong, but it's framing assumes that a lot of white collar work doesn't already consist of taking a mess of information and turning it into structured, clearly delineated tasks. This was true in my career as a welder and it's still true in my career as a software engineer

one of the reasons why I'm critical of "bigger models will solve this" is that cranking the output velocity of technician work sharpens the need for process work, which is the domain of expertise. process is incredibly hard to get right. most fields are bad at it. and it's *gaining* importance.
