I don't think a viewpoint of white collar work that produced media like Office Space and Dilbert (all the way back in the 90s!) is very congruent with the belief that white collar work includes no menial tasks that could potentially be automated by AI.

I think what a lot of people are struggling with re: that Stancil post is that in humans consciousness and thinking are both somewhat interconnected and both part of the mind but they don't necessarily have to be.

i feel kind of silly to admit this, but i do use chatbots for therapy (and I have a real human therapist). i see LLMs as basically "conventional wisdom machines" and it turns out that conventional wisdom for therapy and mental health is often pretty decent.
