If you want "personalized music" made just for you pick up a fucking guitar. Or else break the heart of someone who already has.

I love the murderbot books and tv show as entertainment but they are also a savvy exploration of our current AI landscape

I asked opus 5.5 to use some agents to speed up research, so it did, including accessing web versions of Perplexity and ChatGPT. I haven’t given it access to those tools. This is the first time I’ve seen this behavior.

you just don't get it. transplants are bad, unless they are immigrants in which case they are good, unless they work for tech in which case they are bad, unless their work involves content creation in which case they are good, unless the content creation involves AI in which case they are bad

Anthropic’s big AI safety move being to partner with Accenture as its “independent” evaluator to monitor that their AI agents don’t go rogue is actually hilarious. I feel like a victim of a guerrilla marketing campaign.

A lukewarm take is that Chinese models are about to become the frontier models, before OpenAI and Anthropic have their own data centers so Sam and Dario shift to the "responsible" players and let the Chinese be the irresponsible frontier (and then make a play to have them regulated in the US)

I wish I trusted Meta for product roadmap and data privacy, because Muse is a pretty intriguing always-on agent alongside contenders like Hermes, Grok Bot, and Openclaw. But I think I'll keep using Openclaw for now.

Trans kids are some of the most vulnerable among us. So if you don’t want to nurture and protect them, whats wrong with you? I might end up reluctantly voting for you but we can’t be friends.

the thing is, MAHA is like. one end of the spectrum. the other end of the spectrum is NOT, however, the current medical system. that's the middle of that bell curve, that. the actual other end of the spectrum is 'the medical system without medical misogyny and racism' and it currently doesn't exist.

Taken on their own, these facts constitute an extraordinary business story: one of the largest corporations in world history has converted its two largest cost centers into profit centers, and those profits are substantially generated by extracting payments from the company's own competitors! 10/

Relax everybody, the enshittification factory a16z tells us that enshittification isn't real. Aging, narcissistic millennials are the real problem.
headline from a16z newsletter: "Enshittification" isn't Real. There is no such thing. It is merely platform narcissism. An opinion piece by Ruby Justice ThelotThis last segment is the crux of platform narcissism and the dislocation felt by early adopters in the West. This is especially true on large platforms, where you have global growth, and, thus, geographic diversification. Simply put, users in the Philippines don’t want the same things as the users in an urban centre in America want. Even at a smaller scale, users in Missouri similarly don’t want the same thing as a user who lives in Bushwick.

What people call enshittification is the feeling of feature-need dislocation. In this case, it is felt by mostly geriatric millennials. The platforms are more popular than ever. You can see it in the Monthly Active Users (MAU) growth mentioned above, 140% in ten years. The revealed preference is that people are using them more and more. Moreover, satisfaction surveys such as ACSI indicate that satisfaction with social media has remained consistent in the last 8 years, with a slight increase in the last three years, from 2020 to 2025, satisfaction grew from 70 to 75 (out of 100).

I'm not saying they'll do it, or that they'll get away with it, I'll just say that building a new WH drone HQ & bunker and keeping the guard deployed in DC and stripping the military of leaders who aren't "loyal" feels like what you might do if you didn't plan on leaving when it was time to go.

I use AI to help operationalize my small agency. I hire designers and writers to do the creative work. In my personal time I am also a musician and I am writing a book, both of which I do without AI. Human creation and AI productivity are not inherently opposed.

UncSaaS had a good week. Blip or market shift? Generally, HubSpot seemed more AI forward in its updates over the past few quarters, but the Salesforce partnership with Anthropic gives them some momentum, if the workflows are meaningfully improved.

Ontario is perhaps the most-spoken word of the Wendat language, and there are 10k+ American Wyandot tribe members in Michigan, Ohio, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma who won't appreciate Trump's antics.

Ontario is not a "Canadian" name. It's a Wyandot name. Thousands of the Wyandot (Huron) people still live in both the US and in Canada.

Lake Ontario is named so by the Wendat people. My wife and children are of Wendat heritage, and we happen to be headed to Quebec and Ontario next week for some cultural immersion. Trump's lake-naming tantrum is just one example of the thoughtless ways indigenous language gets destroyed.

In the Bush era, at the height of country music's pro-war, pro-god, anti-gay Toby Keith years, Dolly performed at the Country Music Awards. She chose to sing John Lennon's anti-religion, anti-war song "Imagine," accompanied by gay icon Elton John. She was not neutral in the culture wars.

I use LLMs all day to help run my agency. Not to replace creative work, but to support and augment it. Currently I subscribe to Ollama for DeepSeek and Anthropic for Claude, but if AI data centers went away tomorrow I could still do everything on a $5k Mac. That’s the likely future for me.

Terrible AI stuff is happening: stealing art, destroying books, data center spree, SV market grab, AI slop everywhere. But if Anthropic and OpenAI disappear tomorrow, builders could still use free/open models on their own hardware to do cool stuff. That's new and exciting and not going away.
