Continuing to see signs of a healthy mycelium in my yard. This little friend popped up today.
A small, slender white mushroom with a hemispherical cap, looking giant from a ground-level perspective, surrounded by leaf litter and backed by sunlight filtering through a cherry tree canopy and Virginia sweetspire.

found some porcelain beauties ⟡.⋆
Low angle shot of a cluster of glistening white porcelain mushrooms with convex caps and slender stems growing from under the bark of a felled beech tree in a forest. Soft afternoon light is giving the mushrooms and their gills a nice warm glow.

A third of my comics collection is Matt Howarth. I collected Post Bros., Savage Henry, and Keif Llama, plus specials like WRAB. My reader letter included thanks for the “Love That ‘Bob’” comic that Matt wrote for The Stark Fist of Removal, and he reprinted it as the extra story in Post Bros. #11.
A few panels of Matt Howarth’s “Love That ‘Bob’”:

Ron Post, sitting in a living room armchair, is asked “Can I be of assistance?” and replies “Prob’ly…wait…I have a letter of introduction…”

He holds up a card: “BOB SENT ME”

“Bob,” pipe ever in mouth, examines the card with surprise: “I did?” Ron answers, “We have to talk — in private.”

Nick and @andrewmreichart.bsky.social got me into Matt Howarth’s comics in college. I wrote to Matt a couple of times, once for a Post Bros. reader letter and another to order some older comics from him. He was friendly and kind and threw in something extra. Weird Luck is very much in Matt’s spirit.

I assume the other two “Add music” suggestions are in Meta’s licensed library and they’re just firing blind with random suggestions. I do not know the songs. I am not in the market.

Of these selections, Clapton’s cover makes the most sense (give the computer points for recognizing warm fall colors in the photo), but it’s not my vibe here. Fred Turner knew how to play a bass, but BTO is also not the mood. “The Distance” has, of course, a killer bassline, but, again, wrong vibe.

Fascbook's algorithm now offers an “Add music” option for photos. Setting aside my horror at the suggestion that I hack your mental state with unsolicited audio as if you’re incapable of quietly appreciating a picture without throwing your phone out of the cart in the middle of the aisle at Target…

POV: fretless.
A low-angle and shallow-focus close-up of an Ibanez SRH500F fretless bass, looking from the seventh fretline marker down to the warm-colored body of the guitar. Only the area of the ninth to eleventh fretlines is fully in focus. The woodgrain of the panga panga fingerboard looks almost paintbrushed, a tight striation of two sharply distinct shades of brown. The four matte black tapewound strings converge from lower left toward a vanishing point near the top right corner of the photo. The white pearloid marker dots are offset inline between the E and A strings.

as a hater let me acknowledge something ai is good at: producing irritating discourse at scale this is usually because, like "ai" itself, people are talking about different things like they are one thing so let me disentangle, with statements numbered for easy disagreement

Every year we make the case for keeping leaves, branches, & plant stems in your yard. Bugs need them for shelter! That’s not to say you can’t tidy up: rake leaves into garden beds, around trees, or just in a pile out of the way. All we ask is that you #LeaveTheLeaves! 🍂🐝 xerces.org/blog/leave-t...

Leave the Leaves!
One of the most valuable ways to support pollinators and other invertebrates is to provide them with the shelter they need to survive the winter. Thankfully, all you need to do is do less yard work.
