Currently, a diagram is making the rounds that is claimed to show a significant reduction in Russian disinformation bot activity after Ukrainian drones hit Yandex data centers. There is no evidence that this plot shows real data. I suspect that this image is AI-generated.

I once met an American freelance photographer who was working in Europe. Some of his friends from school ahd become social media stars. He said it was hard to be around them -- they had to be "on" all the time.

a big part of ossoff's rhetorical success is it doesnt contain the compromise and caveats that are a baked-in part of democratic party rhetoric. theres no pretending that his opponent is just misguided or will be pulled back from the edge by "the good republicans." ossoff is saying "fuck this guy"

What It Feels Like at Cornell Right Now
As a professor at the Ivy League school, Kate Manne has known many, many victims. There’s a palpable feeling on campus, she writes, that this is big.

Had a winter flight out of Boston delayed because they didn’t heat it overnight. The water froze, and they couldn’t risk a leak in the air. Solution was to kick the passengers off and heat the interior to over 100 degrees. Missed our connection.

*extremely tired voice*AI agents don't "go rogue". They are not sentient; they don't have agency. They work within guardrails set by humans. If the humans are so shit at building secure sandboxes for the agents to work within, that's on the humans. Stop using this framing.

nobody save for like Marcy Kaptur, who is gonna lose her job anyway, is proactively campaigning against trans rights. they are responding to an organized media / GOP campaign against them on the topic of their putative support for trans rights.

That might depend on what TV ads are running. I happened to visit Montana in Sep 2024, and loads of TV ads attacked Tester for voting for the Equality act. Not sure how his campaign responded. It can affect low-info voters. Ideally one should break the right-wing frame of the subject.

"This election is about the threat of trans kids" is the worst possible messaging for Dems yet so many candidates are leaning into it. No voter will flip R->D over it. Low-info voters read this as "you're focused on bullshit that doesn't affect me" while the base reads this as "you're an asshole."

It’s amazing how the media cooperates to make some issues salient and completely ignores others. We went from North Carolina being protested against for an anti-trans bathroom bill in 2016 to now every politician being asked their position on a dozen or so athletes in ALL of K-16.

eh, winning the civil war was actually a huge deal and the re-installation of real centralized government authority after decades of war was so huge even if his domestic policy largely sucked, it still lead to a massive increase in life expectancy over the course of his rule

I don't have the energy for another week of this, but one thing that I don't think people understand: Paxton is making his entire campaign about trans people. The best way to show *other Republicans* that this isn't a winning message is to defeat him. That *will slow* the GOP anti-trans tide.

Democrats should avoid reinforcing the frame of the question. Reframe it in more favorable terms, or ask for clarification that embarrasses the questioner -- like AES asking Jesse Watters about circumcision.
