The elitism and entitlement and white supremacy - not just Orr who thinks he can get away with it, but Cambridge Heads and so-called leaders who think they can get away with turning a blind eye. It is not only cambridge but elitism is such a brain-rotting aspect of all this. I'm so sick of it

Another story some faculty tell themselves in order to live is that AI is a matter of character. Sometimes, yes; but let us think in terms of systems, incentives, pressure. Is student alcohol abuse just “character”? No, it’s a result of a culture in which higher ed is complicit.

I also find it hilarious how universities are justifying these expenditures using the language of 'equity.'"If we don't buy these tools for everyone, then only the rich kids will be able to afford them, and that's unfair." But you don't buy books assigned by profs for anyone? Why not subsidize that!

One of the things I love most about Dolly is that she put out lots of songs that weren't hits and weren't even very good. She was also a beautiful talented genius and she wasn't afraid to fail or look cheesy or be too earnest

Use of force
Oh Jesus a projectile had found its way into my person and had become subsequently lodged there. In the vicinity of a discharged service weapon they had been saying. Prior to my having sustaining life-threatening injuries and succumbing to them. Following that encounter I had just had. Nobody would specify with whom it was. But there was going to be a full and thorough investigation shortly. They were already saying that on the news over looping bystander video of my behavior having appeared to have been erratic. The tenses were so strained I’m not even sure myself if I'm still alive.

This is enraging. Time to research!? Either we value expertise and research, or we don't. Why can't we trust local schools and teachers to curate texts that are appropriate, both for the grade they teach and the context they teach in? I wouldn't let most of these people babysit for an hour.
