you cannot build meaningful solidarity if you refuse to understand and confront how you benefit from certain privileges and uphold and benefit from hierarchies in your own inter-community dynamics. this is why "We have a common enemy" strategies fail. when we refuse to listen to vulnerable people-

this is related to "we are all fags and they hate us all" type talk from queers when transfems talk about transmisogyny too. true statement on the face of it, but in context, it is, again, a flattening of hierarchy.

so maybe we can stop bringing up how women can abuse men too when we talk about gendered violence. because that isnt the discussion being had. and it isnt suggestive of a socio political structure that women can leverage against men on the basis of being a woman.

if i talk about how abled people are leagues more likely to abuse someone who is disabled, and you start turning the conversation into how some disabled people abuse their caregivers and everyone is capable of abuse...yeah. its fragility and trying to obscure violence and hierarchy

if we continue to obscure that men are more likely to abuse and assault people, if we cannot have honest conversations about patriarchy without flattening it, we are not going to get anywhere. pls stop doing this..

this effectively amounts to flattening violence, class, and serves then as a tool to excuse people of certain classes to not have to confront their positions and how they abuse. typically i see this in discussions of male violence and how men dehumanize and abuse women. im very tired of seeing this

smth on my mind. "no one is ontologically incapable of evil, and every demographic has abusers" is a true thing out of context, but i have continuously seen it leveraged in discussions where the conversation is about a group of people who are incentivized to do violence.
