Whether it's conscious or not, here's more legacy media reporting that normalizes Pauline Hanson as just another political personality. But ignores just how racist, divisive and #FarRight she is. And how the Coalition is pushing in the same direction. As usual, it's the odds, not the stakes.

If data centres can become targets during times of conflict and war, imagine how US bases on our soil will be 🎯. Many US bases on Australian soil are in or near population centres. Many us bases have or will have nuclear material/weapons. Who’s stocking & handing out iodine tablets?!

A Tennessee appellate court has ruled that the killing of a woman may have been justifiable because she was trans. The court reversed a conviction, stating that the killer could have a new trial because the jury did not know the woman killed was trans. Trans panic in the modern era.

Killing of Woman May Have Been Justifiable Because She Was Trans, Tennessee Court Rules
The case is a bitter reminder of the ways LGBTQ people have had their identities weaponized by the courts in the past, most notoriously through a legal defense tactic known as gay or trans “panic.”

"The paperwork" can be silly at times but is often "vital work." If you hear "we won't cut the frontline staff though" be afraid. It means stuff like "an RN will now spend most of her shift trying to get a lightbulb replaced and a medical gas tap fixed so the bed is open."

Hegseth deciding they will livestream the firing squad of a convicted terrorist and former uniformed officer. Hard to know if this is a signal from the administration that they are now doing public executions like Iran and other dictatorships or if this is just for Hegseth to get a murder hard on.

'A government in the sway of tech lobbyists, entwined in the US national security apparatus, moving rapidly to implement new algorithms to determine aged care access & making draconian cuts to disability care is not likely to be one that'll regulate AI in the best interests of ordinary Australians.'

I'm perplexed by the inclusion of and lack of rebuttal to this quote from Alex Fein regarding PHON supporters "Any vote right now is a vote against their own economic interests." - Not a single mention of The Greens, a party whose policies are objectively in their economic interests.

New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns, who tragically lost his 58-year-old mum and several family members to COVID-19 complications, continues advocating for vaccination. “I have asthma,” Towns said, highlighting his “high-risk status” while raising awareness of the non-mRNA NUVAXOVID vaccine.
A screenshot of a Forbes article titled "Karl-Anthony Towns Who Lost Mom To COVID-19 Talks Of Value Of Vaccine." The article is written by Bruce Y. Lee and shows a publication date from early October 2026. Below the headline, a photograph captures NBA player Karl-Anthony Towns sitting at a press conference microphone wearing a white New York Knicks jersey. He is looking forward with a serious expression against a blue backdrop covered in repeating logos for Chase and the New York Knicks. There are early signs that the fire season in Victoria and Tasmania could be bad. This seasonal outlook for rain (left) and temperature (right) over the next three months is not friendly. There is lots of time to pass until fire season down here - and things will shift! - but this is a bad start.
Map showing the chance that rainfall will be low in Victoria and Tasmania. In the southern half of Victoria, there is an above average (1.5x-2x higher than normal) chance that rainfall will be low. In most of Tasmania there is much higher than normal (2x-3.5x higher than normal) change rainfall will be low.Map showing the chance that temperatures will be high in Victoria and Tasmania. Across both state, virtually all of the state has a much, much higher than normal (4x+ times higher than normal) change temperatures will be high.
