Hey, there's good news: Pandora is doing science! Pandora is an exoplanet mission to observe ~20 transiting planets in optical/IR simultaneously, to mitigate the impact of stellar variability on planet atmospheres. The NASA Exoplanet Archive will host the data! science.nasa.gov/missions/pan...

Learn about NASA's #Pandora mission! I joined this team just a few months ago and it has been an amazing experience working with the team to get this small spacecraft up and operational! science.nasa.gov/missions/pan...

Alt text: Pandora mission infographic

Image description: A sketch of the Pandora spacecraft lies in the top third of the image, which has a light tan and white background. Spanning the bottom is a mottled yellow semicircle representing a Sun-like star, and on its left are reddish brown blemishes representing sunspots. Above it a series of planets in an arc are connected by a faint gray dashed line. The planets are shaded more darkly as they proceed to the right, as if they are orbiting the star and entering a transit. Two bubbles contain sketches of molecules, one by the third planet image and one beneath it pointing to the star. The title, at center and below the spacecraft, reads “Pandora helps untangle star/planet signals.” Light gray dashed lines fan out from the title to the star below. The NASA insignia is at top left. Additional text at the top reads “Pandora’s goal is to disentangle the signals of exoplanets and their stars to better understand their atmospheres.” Text around the spacecraft reads “Weight: 717 lbs. (325 kg), Approx. one male elk,” “Uses a spare detector from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope,” and “Orbit: low Earth.” Text below the title and above the star reads “The Science” and “As starlight passes through a planet’s atmosphere, molecules such as water leave chemical fingerprints. Pandora makes long, simultaneous observations of the planet and star in visible and near-infrared light. Scientists need to know if detected molecules, especially those important to life, come from the planet or the star.” Text by the top of the star reads “Stars produce signals similar to planetary atmospheres, and stellar activity can distort measurements.” Text at the bottom reads “Year 1, 20 exoplanets to be observed, 10 observations per planet, 24 hours per observation,” and “SmallSat, Pandora is a lower-cost mission that complements other larger missions like NASA’s Webb.”

And to everyone who is wondering, “how could humans be causing more than 100% of the warming?” — it’s because, according to natural factors, the earth should be cooling right now. So our emissions are offsetting that cooling AND causing all of the observed warming. For more, watch:

Because the Moon is tidally locked to the Earth, if you build your habitat on some plot of near-side regolith you can put the little Earth anywhere in the sky you want & it’ll stay there, lazily meandering around just a little as the Moon wobbles in its orbit. A view of Earthset from #Artemis II.
[alt text from NASA] Earth sets at 6:41 p.m. EDT, April 6, 2026, over the Moon’s curved limb in this photo captured by the Artemis II crew during their journey around the far side of the Moon. Orientale basin is perched on the edge of the visible lunar surface. Hertzsprung Basin appears as two subtle concentric rings, which are interrupted by Vavilov, a younger crater superimposed over the older structure. The lines of indentations are secondary crater chains formed by ejecta from the massive impact that created Orientale. The dark portion of Earth is experiencing nighttime. On Earth’s day side, swirling clouds are visible over the Australia and Oceania region.
