Lake Erie Girl 🌊 - Grace 🍁 @longpointbeach.bsky.social · 05/07/2026

It holds its breath in quiet balloons until the timing is exactly right. Then, a silent pop— and five petals catch the perfect blue of a deep twilight sky. Balloon Flower #Photography #Photo #Flowers #NaturePhotography #Nature #Gardening #Bloomscrolling

A vibrant, five-pointed purple balloon flower (Platycodon grandiflorus) in full bloom is the central focus, showing detailed dark veining on its petals. To its right, closed green flower buds sit on thin stems amidst soft green foliage, all captured under bright, natural daylight with a softly blurred background.

Macro photograph of a small dark bee standing on the bright yellow centre of a white daisy. A second tiny insect rests on a petal to the left, while another dark, blurred insect is partly visible behind the flower. The scene is sharply detailed against a smooth green background.

Quietude #PostProcess #EmotionShift #ECK Challenge Photo original by @bloodraynes.bsky.social (See Alt-Text for process) Thinking: I wanted to shift the emotion to one of quiet prayer, calm, and with an air of stillness and contemplation.

Process: The starting point was thresholding the image in GIMP, using this as a creative base rather than a finishing technique. From there I painted out everything except the graves and spire, then cut and re-positioned the remaining elements. The spire shadow was reconstructed by cloning and rotating the original; a simple solution to re-establish the perspective geometry. Being self critical, getting the graves to sit convincingly with the re-positioned spire remains an imperfect compromise, but one I felt was acceptable. Final touches were a LUT and paper texture overlay, which added warmth and a material quality to the void rather than leaving it feeling purely digital.

A violet-green swallow couple preening on a small, bare branch on a pine tree. She's at the very edge of the branch on the left, facing forward with her head buried in the top of her left wing. She has a white breast and tan head. He's close to the right side, with his body turned a bit toward the left. He's doing his best Phantom of the Opera impersonation with his right wing spread out and his head buried in his wingpit. He has a white breast and lower face with gorgeous green on his back and crown. The background is a blurred mix of pine needles, branches, and blue sky.
