The reasons might be medical or they might be the mother and the family’s preference and either is valid! There is definitely anti-BF prejudice in wider society but in British mum culture today, not being guilt-ridden about formula/smug about successful BFing is ANATHEMA.

Regretting that modern editions of Paddington have updated “Bears is sixpence. Sticky bears is ninepence”. “Bears is extra. Sticky bears is twice as much” is very MEH. How is my baby to learn about florins, shillings, etc etc

I just think that risking your life at a moment's notice to save people you've never met in exchange for no money is a better expression of patriotism than dressing up like a Poundshop paramilitary and intimidating families with kids trying to get onto a ferry.

Going to end today having a glamorous time helping to launch the NT’s 2027 season at a party. Started today being thrown up on by baby. Only a tiny bit (teething) but MY how it travels.

Let it be known that yesterday the baby got her first SHOES. They are dear little SHOES. She was not at all sure about SHOES. She did however like the long blonde hair and sparkly bracelet of the teenager measuring her, which helped.

Hotel I’m in seems to be the chosen/conference hotel for a huge group of very cheerful middle-aged/elderly rockers in black band t shirts. They’re having a lovely time and seem v friendly and good fun. I am delighted by them. Hurrah subcultures.

My only parenting hack is to compile a zip pouch of safe items the baby believes to be contraband, and deploy it in a manner which lets the baby believe she is opening it in a feat of monumental cunning.

Struggling to work out why Jenrick would single out these three Commonwealth countries rather than, say, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, whose citizens have exactly the same rights. It’s a head-scratcher.

Absolutely cannot fathom people saying nice things about Dolly Parton with the addition that they didn’t much care for her music. Not because it’s rude but because — JOLENE??? 9 TO 5?? HERE YOU COME AGAIN? I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU? It’s like saying you’ve never much cared for colours

The @channel4news.bsky.social obituary package on Dolly Parton called her “apolitical” which is offensive nonsense. Dolly and the gays. Dolly and child literacy. Dolly and class mobility. Dolly and vaccinations. Those are all political positions, especially in her lifetime in America.

This was my first phone. You could send picture messages ie patterns made of pixels. About 64 pixels. To anyone else with a Philips Savvy mobile. Texts cost 10p. I was with Orange which I thought was VERY cool. I got it for my thirteenth birthday.

I can't believe the amount of recent history revisionism in the UK. Response to Polish immigration was so severe that it successfully led to Brexit. BREXIT. And tanked British economy. This happened last decade, you can just Google it.
Post on X Remember in early 2000s thousands of Polish men immigrated over to UK cause their economy crashed but no one said fuck all cause they came to work, minded their own buisness an left our kids alone.....

Response Most Poles who emigrated to the UK in the early 2000s remember something completely different and photo of xenophobic graffiti

Oh and how could we forget fellow Tory recycled rubbish - Nadhim Zahawi - who claimed £6000 on expenses for heating his stables or another - Lee Anderson - who claimed £220,000 in business expenses for 2020/21 - just after telling parliament he thought food bank users couldn’t budget/cook properly.

kathleen stock: being neurodivergent should be a barrier to entering academia manchester museum: would you like to see one of our snail collections? :) our scientists have more than one :))
Plaque at Manchester Museum:

EXPLORING VARIATION
The Museum has several collections of snails put together by scientists who studied inheritance and evolution. Arthur Stelfox (1883-1972) was interested in the ways that different shell patterns and colours are inherited. He bred snails of different varieties with one another over a period of sixty years. Collections like this are still used by scientists, who are trying to answer new questions.

I've slept terribly and I am going to log off again, but people's desire to raze the press (absolutely understandably) goes against all the guidelines on how we are meant to deal with and talk about this sort of (suspected) death before things are confirmed.
