“The Antediluvians recognize an old acquaintance” This cartoon appeared in Punch magazine, 27/07/1861 - linking the old age of our Dino friends with the previous appearances of the “Great Comet of 1861” The comet is now designated C/1861 J1, and is due to return in 2267 so…see you then, yeah??

In June 1919, navigator Arthur Brown, this black cat toy called Twinkletoes, and pilot John Alcock made the first nonstop Atlantic flight. Twinkletoes rode in Arthur’s Jacket. I can't phrase this in a way that makes me look good. The answer is: embarrassment. I don't innately understand trans stuff, and I have a tendency towards Dawkins-esque pedantry. But then I read a lot and met some trans people. Awkwardly for me, the GCs were wrong and trans people were right.
