These years of anti-immigration hysteria we're living through right now are going to look utterly incomprehensible in the coming era of closing schools, ageing populations and massively understaffed public services

Starmer: "... we cannot win as a weaker version of Reform ... , we can only win as a stronger version of Labour" So replace the current Home Secretary with someone who isn't performatively hostile towards immigrants. Take a leaf out of Spain's book, where they welcome immigrants.

BBC's Chris Mason wonders why asylum is such a salient issue with voters, and attributes it to innate British sense of fair play. He hasn't been reading the Mail, Express and Sun, and hasn't noticed the BBC's relentless platforming of Farage, including 30+ appearances on Question Time.

Everyone is waiting for the Republicans to do something. They won't. You, the public, must act. You have the power the oligarchs and the régime fear. Go on strike. Bring Trump's régime down, Miller, Vance, the Republican party, the whole damn lot.

1/14 Every time someone proposes funding public services, the bond markets get wheeled out like a loaded gun. Hire more doctors? Markets panic. Run a larger deficit? Punishment awaits. This argument has dominated UK politics for 40 years. It is a bluff. 🧵

Osborne, Cameron & certain Lib Dems have a lot to answer for. All problems you see today from pot holes, to waste dumping, sub standard housing, rise of food banks is all because they decimated public funding while selling off infrastructure too. They need their day in the court of accountability.

Half-heartedly following the Your Party debacle you become aware that the 'left' constantly issues tests of ideological purity, elevating issues that, while not unimportant, are very far from most people's concerns, thereby sabotaging itself from the outset.

Listening to Radio 4 and the reporting on people seeking asylum is factually incorrect on multiple levels, including overstating channel crossings in comparison to other routes to seek asylum. No wonder people don't understand the situation when the media reporting on it is so poor.
