Just in from a charity do, lots of local businesses very generously donated great prizes. I sat thru the raffle, wishing for a restaurant voucher or weekend away. The last ticket was drawn, I won!! ..£500 to spend at a furniture store . I own a furniture workshop, it's the one thing I don't need

This is the towpath near my house, it follows the Lagan river. I use it several times a week and in all the years I've never seen it like this. In sections of slow water, a thick vivid green scum. It's probably algae with the hot summer. But wow, doesn't look to healthy #Belfast

The world is on fire and the largest fresh water lake on these islands (and the largest lake in Ireland) is being used as a dumping ground for toxic shite so that a few people can make a lot of money. Lough Neagh is dying and no one is lifting a finger to stop this ecological disaster.

Due to involvement of paramilitaries in pogroms while the PSNI pretended otherwise, firefighters had to liaise with their leaders for permission to put out fires. “Firefighters had no doubt about paramilitary influence and sought permission from their leaders before tackling blazes, sources said.”

A stabbing in June sparked another summer’s night of racial violence, stoked by loyalist groups. How did the unrest erupt – and why do many fear it will happen again?
