I have drawn over 500 pages of comic in self indulgent making over the last year. WHY THE EFF am I having new sketchbook "I'm never going to fill this" and "just going to ruin this" anxiety? I'm just going to draw the most self indulgent bullcarp I can. For me. That's why it exists. Why, brain?

Your daily reminder that some birds have eyelashes made of tiny modified feathers. They're found in at least one species of 28 families of birds (out of 205). An example of convergent evolution. Examples: ostriches, secretarybirds, hornbills & hummingbirds. (📷: Nicolas Reusens Photography)
Captured by @nicolasreusens, these close-ups show the eye and eyelid margin of a hummingbird at roughly 3 to 3.5x magnification.

What look like lashes are modified feathers, not hairs, and researchers have proposed that they may help protect the eye from airborne particles during flight. Eyelash-like feather structures have only been documented in a fraction of the bird families surveyed so far.

These photographs were taken at the Catia Hummingbird Sanctuary in Mexico.Captured by @nicolasreusens, these close-ups show the eye and eyelid margin of a hummingbird at roughly 3 to 3.5x magnification.

I made a spear inspired by the snaking fog that I see coming down the river valley in the fall mornings we call The Dragon. Made with steel that was once equipment that farmed these valleys, wood that grew here as well, and wax that keeps it rust free is from the bees here too.
My spear, Morning Dragon. A wavy spearhead with a blue shaft and long blue tassel, a brass charm on the tassel bears my mark

On this day of labor remember: when they tell you (and they will tell you) that Covid is not a labor issue, ask them if people catch Covid at work, ask them if people have to work while sick, and when they say yes, tell them that’s why Covid is a labor issue.

The image is of a four panel comic.
In the first panel we see a dragon sitting on a pile of treasure. A speech bubble pointing off panel reads, “Dragon, why do you have all this treasure?”
In the second panel we zoom in on the dragons face. He simply says “shiny”.
In the third panel we pan to the left and see that there is a crow standing next to the dragon on the treasure.
In the fourth panel we zoom in on the crows face. He says “hell yeah”.

A whimsical poster featuring a fluffy black cat dressed as a tiny dragon, complete with a green dragon headpiece, teeth, and small wings. The dragon cat sits in front of a soft yellow circle on a warm beige textured background, with a curved pink line behind it. Above, large hand-lettered text reads, “HERE’S A DRAGON CAT.” Below, handwritten text reads, “to remind you that if we’re going to imagine what could happen, we might as well imagine things going wonderfully right too :)”

I love when fantasy series have a dude called something like Stephen the All-Seeing, Keeper of the Demon Sword, hero of the Volcano Age. But in some tiny village, he's known as Bees Steve, that weird guy who loves beekeeping. The more uppercase titles the legend has, the funnier the contrast is.
