overall the feeling you get from planet earth in 2025 is like watching a tv show six seasons after it got bad. nothing's funny and everyone's got weird plastic surgery faces

Good evening, USA!
A screenshot of the Smith House from American Dad, with the attic light on, cropped to resemble the famous American Football album cover... kind of... if you squint... I GUESS. Further driving the point home, some text is superimposed, stylized as "americ andad!"

It takes a lot for me to DNF a movie, but, like most Zoom meetings, this one should have been an email.
The words "THE ZOOM" in Revue typeface (the same one as used in 2003's The Room). In the background is imagery from the 2025 War of the Worlds movie. Altogether we have a joke comparing the new film to Tommy Wiseau's "so bad it's good" classic.

HANK HILL: ACROSS THE PROPANEVERSE In which I discuss my theory that every episode of King of the Hill takes place in its own separate timeline. There are, of course, certain canon events...
A cropped screenshot* from King of the Hill, season 2, episode 14, "I Remember Mono". Featured is a young Hank Hill talking on the phone (to Peggy) while reclining in his bed.

I am including this picture because of young Hank's resemblance to a young David Lynch.

*It's actually a cellphone photo of the TV, but that's not important.

Chug a lug, Mariner! It is because of this movie that Smeat exists! (The movie is Waterworld, btw.)
A TV in front of a window in a living room in our house, in the middle of our street...

On the TV is a scene from Waterworld, where the main character (played by Kevin Costner) drinks a glass of water that was recently distilled from his own urine (pee).

Later, there will be many scenes that feature a certain fake potted meat product.

RFK Jr.’s lies about autism are disgraceful — and I won't share them to spread misinformation. He consistently undermines public health and reinforces dangerous myths. In Illinois, we stand with those with autism, and I’ll keep fighting for inclusion, science, and the truth.

Autistic kids are not broken. Not less. Not damaged. They experience the world differently and that’s not a flaw. The real issue? A world that isn’t built to include them. Change the system, not the child.

CHECK IT OUT, DOGGS, I'M MOVING IN SILENCE
media.tenor.com
a man with a mustache is sitting in the driver 's seat of a car with a watermark that says cravello2020
Alt: A screenshot from Fargo (1996): mustachioed Carl Showalter (Steve Buscemi), sits in the driver's seat of his brand new burnt umber Ciera, saying "total silence", which is also captioned at the bottom. This is funny, because he is upset with the passenger (off camera) not holding up a conversation, so he goes on and on about how "two can play that game" and see how [he] like it" and so on. Anyway, I have plans and I'm trying not to talk about them. When you have ADHD, talking about your plans pays out almost as much dopamine as actually doing the thing. It can be "close enough" that you just lost interest.

If Soundwave came out in the 70s, he'd deploy 8-track tapes
A diptych: on top, an orange cat curled up in a very rectangular "ball"; on the bottom, a picture of the Transformers toy Ravage, a microcassette that turns into a robot cat.

One is invited to compare the two, with an eye toward the humorous. Also of note: the cat has a nickname of "Square".

Happy 311 Day to those who celebrate
Excerpt from a 2005 news article about brawling rockstars. The excerpted text reads as follows:

But Stapp later came into the Harbor Court Hotel bar while Sexton and bandmates SA Martinez and P-Nut were watching basketball on television. He stepped in front of the screen and said, "311, I am ready to fight," according to Sexton.
