The ovaries don't just shut down after menopause. They keep changing—and may take on new roles as they age. But are those changes protective, harmful, or both? Scientists are only beginning to find out. My latest for @wired.com www.wired.com/story/ovary-...

A growing body of research is putting the ovary in a new light, not as an egg factory with an expiration date, but as an organ that shapes women’s health long after the fertile years have passed.

the attention to Flock has exploded in recent weeks in April, bolts published an article on the length that a Wisconsin town went through to get Flock to take down its cameras — including covering them in trash bags. what the mayor told us:
"“The fact that they didn’t take the cameras down shows that we are the product,” Diaz said. “They were never really selling to us in the first place. What they are doing is selling to much bigger agencies the ability to spy on a ton of people.”"

did bluesky hear about Miss Teen Indiana’s Garfield costume
A young woman in a Garfield inspired outfit with a Garfield headdressThe young woman from the first photo is holding a lasagna that says “lasagna my love language”missinteenusa Tonight, Indiana is going Garfield!
My state costume celebrates one of Indiana's most iconic creations-Garfield, created by fellow Hoosier Jim Davis.
Born in Marion and raised in Fairmount, Davis turned an orange cat with a big personality into a character recognized and loved around the world.
But this costume represents more than a famous Hoosier.
The hand-painted comic panels on my skirt share messages inspired by my initiative, Captivating Confidence:
"Our differences are what make us beautiful."
"If we don't have love, we have nothing."
"Outer beauty attracts, but inner beauty captivates."
To me, true confidence is found in embracing what makes each of us different and recognizing that our greatest beauty comes from within. I am so excited to bring a little Hoosier humor, creativity and confidence to the Miss Teen USA stage tonight!
This one-of-a-kind costume was inspired by my vision and brought to life by Indianapolis-based costume designer, Jess West. @jesswestcostumes

The city he grew up in was considered the kind of place that had all the things we didn’t. They were held up as one of the beacons of what life COULD be like, if you just did what you were supposed to. We envied the access and resources of their students. Why do so many of them want to die now?

We’ve both lost people, but it astounds me how many of his peers he’s watched die by their own hand. He’s only 36. He found out he lost another one last night. He looked exhausted. It worries me knowing he’s struggled with ideation himself. I can’t help wondering, what happened to them all???

This blows my mind because he and I had very different school backgrounds. His school was one of the best in his city, and I attended what was considered the worst in mine. 75% of my classmates were on free or reduced lunch. I’ve lost one friend from addiction-related issues and 0 from suicide.

My husband hates where he grew up. He has a great family who we’re close to, but the suburban town he was raised in? Hate. Since we’ve been together he’s lost five friends, or former friends, to suicide and addiction. And those are just his friends. He can name thirty he knew from his school days.
