If it looks like an Amazon delivery and drives like an Amazon delivery, then it's an Amazon delivery, right? Not according to Amazon. Big companies like Amazon have built a vast network of subcontractors who deliver their packages while shielding them from accountability.

FYI in case anyone is seeing this thread late, the role was cast with a wonderful young trans woman and the show is currently filming!

There should be a national network of middle aged, middle class white women who get trained and certified in basic legal advocacy, de-escalation tactics, and immigration law, that can quickly deploy anytime cops or ICE is harassing someone nearby. (And if this already exists, let me know!)

I've been obsessed with how trans people moved through the world before we had language for such identity and this series will put it front and center, with all the love that only writers who know and cherish trans people can. Please share this with your UK networks and help us find our star. 🏳️‍⚧️🎭

Casting notice for UK trans women! I've been working on this passion project with my friends & mentors for years, and we are now looking to cast a young trans actor for one of the lead roles. This is an incredible part, one I hope to help make a future star.

We should ask anyone defending Epstein or Trump, like Megyn Kelly today, WHY they think it's okay for adult men to want girls, but not for adult men and women to want each other. Bring this attitude into the light and challenge it.

Jen Richards @smartassjen.bsky.social · 13/11/2025
It's not hypocritical to think a trans or gay kid is a deviant, and Trump is a great man, because in their worldview all men are naturally like Trump, and only trauma, sin, or perversion is at the root of happily adjusted trans & gay people in consenting relationships
140
Jen Richards @smartassjen.bsky.social · 13/11/2025
The difference, or course, is agency and consent. But again, in their worldview men "naturally" want girls and vice versa. Which is why all cries of hypocrisy fall on deaf ears.
100
Jen Richards @smartassjen.bsky.social · 13/11/2025
In their worldview, the only real & dangerous deviations are homosexuality and gender variance. Or engaging with pre-pubescent children. They see those as unnatural. And aligned. Hence the constant conflation with natural sexual and gender variance with dangerous deviancy.
100
Jen Richards @smartassjen.bsky.social · 13/11/2025
AND it's assumed that young women naturally WANT the attention and protection of older men. The only difference between Leavitt's 32 year age gap marriage and what Epstein & Trump engage with is an arbitrary legal distinction, one they want to violate as proof of their power.
110
Jen Richards @smartassjen.bsky.social · 13/11/2025
Many believe it is "natural" for men to be sexually attracted to girls from puberty on, and that stigmatization, even of acting upon it, is an arbitrary social construct (eg variable "age of consent" laws). It's frowned upon, but understood, because it's "natural".

I wrote about Chicago: "Is this city burning? There is a definite answer to the question. In all these cities, the answer is no. No American city is currently on fire, and if Chicago is a war zone, it’s because it’s being invaded by the president."

Everyone can set aside partisanship, psychologizing, pathologizing, whatever, and—I would hope—still see that it’s incredibly dangerous for a political leader to be this disconnected from the real conditions in the country.

We are very much inside the logic of the paradox of tolerance. The right has been openly stoking violence against minorities for years, and their incitements have gone largely unchallenged. More hand wringing about civility and norms will do nothing. We crossed the Rubicon long ago.

Reading this interview with Maksim Borisov, a gay Russian dissident who sought asylum in the US last year only for ICE to arrest and detain him in February. He's currently held in Eloy Detention Center in Arizona where he says "trans people… just disappear."
Maksim tells me he has developed a kinship with the transgender detainees in particular, who he says face brutal harassment from both guards and fellow inmates. “I’ve befriended several,” he says. “But here, especially for trans people… just disappear. One day they’re here, the next day, no one knows. Were they deported? Released? No one tells us.”

In that landscape of indifference, Maksim has found a kind of resistance in solidarity. He is part of a small community of queer detainees who take care of each other.

“I’d be happy if America wants to deport me,” he says. “Just not to Russia. Mexico would be fine.”

The judges who looked at this case previously had to chastise the White House lawyers because the evidence they presented to prove that trans inclusion hurt military readiness showed the opposite. They hadn't even read their own evidence. It's ideology over evidence. Pure animus.

The biggest mistake Dems in red states make is NOT CALLING THEIR REPUBLICAN reps. Calling your rep - ESPECIALLY if they're Republican, is *critical*. Otherwise they just hear from supporters and think they're doing a great job. americansofconscience.com/faq-calling-...
7 1/2. Breaking Through the Opposition: Calling the Other Side
Calling an elected official from the opposing party may seem futile, but it’s far from it. Persistent and respectful communication can influence their understanding of your concerns as a constituent. Communication keeps the issue on their radar and can sway them if enough constituents voice the same opinion. Remember, public pressure has historically led to bipartisan support on various issues. Also consider that if your MoC doesn’t hear from a diverse range of opinions within their district, they may (falsely) assume that their views are spot-on. Even the most confident elected official wants to win over swing voters and maintain their seat come election time. Speaking up accomplishes a lot.
