This has been going on for a LONG time. I left my fangames (Toad Strikes Back, etc) somewhat jank almost in protest to the increasing focus on polish over passion in the community at the time. I didn't want my games to feel like Nintendo, because I am not Nintendo. I wanted them to be mine. ~

This is my first Pride Month since coming out with my new name. Being able to finally name characters and save files in games after myself just hits SO MUCH DIFFERENTLY, omg. Hoping to climb more mountains and come out of this shell that has had me trapped for decades!

These EXACT questions and more plague my dev experience, especially after I stopped making fangames and folks began to care a LOT less. Another one to ask yourself, though: do you want your game to exist? If so, that's every reason to keep at it. I make what I want to play, and that keeps me going.

That whole sequence over the Proto Man theme was art. Quite somber and introspective - much like the MM7 credits (the music, and the whole sequence really), which made *quite* the impression on me. Gotta love how a colorful game about bug-eyed hardhats can get you in "the feels" like that!
