Also high key bad misinformation keeps being spread about earning potential at cons sometimes. Encouraging folks to go into debt bc maybe a few folks brought in five figures…. And claiming that as average…. Is perhaps bad actually

It’s probably a lukewarm take at best but yeah unfortunately…. I think we need to reassess quite a bit and sometimes our aspirations get in the way of good decisions (including myself here and some of the miserable times I’ve had)

It’s wild that things are so different now, even compared to when I started 4 years ago. There’s a lot of folks trying to profit on your dreams. It’s okay to pass on something you think sounds kinda bad

I get the hopeful, positive attitude. Opportunity is more scarce now and we want everything to go well… but when you think about the event you’re doing: would you honestly want to attend that event? Does it sound like something you’d go out of your way to attend? Because if it doesn’t… you know?

Gonna drop a medium-low hot take about artist alley/art markets in that I think the biggest issues with those more often tend to be that organizers don’t think enough like vendors and both vendors + organizers don’t think enough like attendees

Quote with blood art 🍓🍰

Image is an illustration. There is a woman at the top, looking horrified, wielding a knife. There is red dripping from her mouth and knife. Below there is a strawberry cake, a slice cut, dripping red onto the table. The slice is on a plate next to it, starting to drown in the red. Surrounding the plate is a red puddle, strawberries whole or cut into pieces scattered everywhere. There’s a lace border around the whole image, with lots of hearts

I just saw the original rec for the first time (two decades behind, i know) and it’s really illuminating like how sometimes the best horror films really are just…… simple. A lot of newer found footage esp tries to do too much and have too many cameras

The original artist even made a follow-up comic recognizing this!

Four-panel comic.

First panel: Adam Ellis, teary-eyed, in a snowy forest holding a gun, saying "I'm sorry for what I'm about to do..."

Second panel: Ellis standing behind the bottom two panels of the "Let people enjoy things" comic with arms and legs. Ellis says "You've gone mad... I don't have a choice..." and the comic says "Wait! You don't have to do th—"

Third panel: A distant shot of the treetops and scattering birds with the sound effect "BLAM!"

Fourth panel: Ellis standing over the comic's corpse saying "I'm... sorry..."

It depresses me to hear about these younger actors dying, and it’s especially depressing to hear about it with disabled public figures. I’m so fucking gutted

Im just so fucking depressed about this. I’m more caught up on how he and a lot of other disabled/elderly actors were scammed by a woman who worked in the industry. Heartbreaking cruelty

It’s astounding how bad they are at bedside manner and basic empathy. Just two weeks ago I was suggested….…. Ignoring pain as a coping skill. I also think cis men doctors more often tend to be the worst about this shit 🫩 no curiosity to help or understand the patient
