Matt Gaetz accused in suit of sex trafficking two women in Florida
Jane Does allege ex-congressman and two others coordinated ‘payments, drugs and travel’ for sexual acts The Republican former congressman Matt Gaetz has been accused of participating in the sex trafficking of two young women in a civil lawsuit filed on Thursday in district court in Florida. The allegations, which Gaetz denied in a statement to the Guardian, are the latest developments in a long-running sexual abuse scandal involving the politician who resigned from Congress in November 2024. This could be triggering. Careful. If you able to, read this.
Roman Sheremeta EE ® @rshere.... 1d X She was lying there, raped, her neck broken, with a noose around her neck. Beside her hung her 3-year-old son.
When they took him down from the rope, he was blue and no longer breathing.
But then a miracle happened. And what this child said a year later will break your heart.
June 20, 2022. Kherson region, an occupied village. At two in the morning, the wife of a Ukrainian serviceman managed to message her husband that someone was breaking down the door to their home.
His sister arrived an hour later. The gate was locked, so she climbed over the fence.
The door had been ripped from its frame, and a window was smashed. Nothing had been stolen.
They had not come to rob them. They had come to kill.
In the room, her sister-in-law was lying on the couch, undressed and brutally beaten. Her head was twisted unnaturally, her neck was broken, and there was a noose around her neck. She was
28.
Beside her hung her three-year-old son. He had also been beaten, with about a dozen cigarette burns on his face. The rope was pulled so tightly around his neck that the woman tore her fingernails bloody trying to untie it.The child was blue. His head was swollen from edema. He was no longer breathing.
The woman screamed at him: "Breathe! Live!
Because I won't be able to live with this — I'll lie down beside you and die too."
She performed CPR on him. She was afraid she would break his ribs — she didn't. And he began to breathe.
He had watched his mother being killed. And she had watched her child being tortured. The window had been broken — people nearby had heard what was happening, but no one admitted
Then came three weeks in occupied Kherson.
The woman waited for the burns and the rope mark around the child's neck to heal.
What had not healed, she covered with makeup so they would not be recognized and killed immediately.
At the hospital, they warned her: "If they try to detain you, run. Half the hospital is occupied by FSB officers."
To get the boy out, the woman forged documents directly on her phone using Photoshop. She was taking him out as if he were her own son. Thirty checkpoints lay ahead.
At one of them, a rifle was pressed against her temple. One Russian said, "Get rid of these Another replied, "No, I've had enough fort + The first said, "I'm fine with it."He was wearing a wedding ring. Perhaps a wife and children were waiting for him at home. And he was perfectly fine with killing a woman and a child sitting in a car.
Three days on the road. The woman pressed the pedals with one leg because the other had become paralyzed.
At a filtration checkpoint, a young officer asked whether anyone in the car had survived torture.
She said: "Yes."
Is anyone injured? — Yes.
Has anyone been tortured? — Yes.
When she pointed to the three-year-old child, the officer began to cry. He could not continue the conversation.
In Odesa, doctors diagnosed the boy with clinical death, asphyxia, cerebral edema, a damaged wrist joint, a jaw injury, and eight broken teeth.
He stopped speaking — his muscles had atrophied. His speech development was set back by a year.
They now live in Odesa. The boy speaks again, goes swimming, attends kindergarten, and works with a speech therapist. They now live in Odesa. The boy speaks again, goes swimming, attends kindergarten, and works with a speech therapist.
He knows that his mother is gone. A year after the tragedy, he went outside one evening, pointed his little finger toward the sky, and said:
"Moon, sky, Mommy."
The boy's father is a serviceman. When they arrived in Odesa, he met them deeply devastated. | He was able to stay with them for two weeks — as long as his command allowed.
"He could have left the military and become his son's guardian. But he didn't. Because he is a patriot. Because he continues to fight," she said.
And after the liberation of the left bank of the Kherson region, there will be many more.

As a parent of a former Marine, I’m am livid. What kind of imbecile decides that the number of servicemen killed determines whether a war is a war? It’s like the Yankees winning a game by twenty runs and saying it wasn’t a baseball game. To demean the deaths as small potatoes? Fuck him, FUCK HIM!

1. Emirati billionaire Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor slams President Trump: “Who gave you the authority to drag our region into a war with Iran? And on what basis did you make this dangerous decision?” “Who gave you permission to turn our region into a battlefield?”

His Excellency President Donald Trump,
A direct question: Who gave you the authority to drag our region into a war with #Iran? And on what basis did you make this dangerous decision?
Did you calculate the collateral damage before pulling the trigger? And did you consider that the first to suffer from this escalation will be the countries of the region itself!
The peoples of this region have the right to ask as well: Was this your decision alone? Or did it come as a result of pressures from #Netanyahu and his government?
You have placed the countries of the
#GulfCooperationCouncil and the Arab countries at the heart of a danger they did not choose. Thank God, we are strong and capable of defending ourselves, and we have armies and defenses that protect our homelands, but the question remains:
Who gave you permission to turn our region into a battlefield?
For before the ink has dried on the #BoardOfPeace initiative that you announced in the name of peace and stability, we find ourselves facing a military escalation that endangers the entire region. So where did those initiatives go? And what is the fate of the commitments made in the name of peace?
Most of the funding proposed in those initiatives came from the countries of the region themselves, and from Arab Gulf countries that contributed billions of dollars on the basis of supporting stability and development. And these countries have the right to ask today: Where did this money go? And are we funding peace initiatives or funding a war that exposes us to danger?
More dangerous than that, your decision does not threaten only the peoples of the region, but also reaches the American people whom you promised peace and prosperity. And here they are today, finding themselves in a war funded from their money and taxes, with costs ranging, according to the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), between 40-65 billion dollars for direct military …

Senior expert on Iran at @crisisgroup.org Ali Vaez.
• This is a war of choice, not necessity.
The U.S. and Israel initiated strikes on Iran without a direct, imminent threat. That makes this a discretionary conflict, and history shows wars of choice often come with long, unpredictable tails.

• Escalation is almost guaranteed.
Iran has been preparing for this day since the 12-day war. Retaliation is likely to take place not just directly, but asymmetrically, potentially igniting multiple fronts at once.

• Regional conflagration is a real possibility.
If Hezbollah fully engages from Lebanon, if militias strike U.S. bases in Iraq and Syria, or if the Houthis escalate in the Red Sea, this stops being a bilateral conflict and becomes a region-wide war stretching across the Middle EastGlobal economic shockwaves are likely.
Iran sits along the Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly a fifth of the world’s oil supply passes. Even limited disruption could spike energy prices, fuel inflation, and rattle global markets.

• U.S. forces across the region are exposed.
American troops and assets in Iraq, Syria, the Gulf, and at sea are within reach of Iranian missiles and drones. What starts as a targeted strike campaign could quickly put thousands of U.S. personnel at risk. Even @realDonaldTrump admitted that American blood could be spilled.

• Long wars reshape politics at home.
Sustained conflict risks war fatigue, domestic division, and political backlash in the U.S. and Israel — especially if casualties rise or objectives become unclear.
