I'm not nearly as high on Ossoff as a lot of others seem to be, but this kind of stuff goes a long way. The less that Democrats refer to their opponents as "friends across the aisle" and insisting that the "fever will break," the better.

Unless things have changed recently, the California legislature hasn't overturned a governor's veto in over 45 years. It's one of many reasons for disillusionment among Dem voters. Their representatives can bluster about their supposed values, but when push comes to shove they don't actually act.

I find it funny when people talk about how games are this art form that can make you feel emotions, but then you bring up something like wanting more games to have timers & people will say its bad design "because it makes me anxious" So emotions only allowed through story, not gameplay. The model 2 Genesis always felt like a big step down in aura. There's a handful of nitpicks I could list, but most of all those power/reset buttons felt extremely cheap, underscoring the cost-cutting redesign that it was. Came across more than one whose said buttons just broke.

I've been thinking for a while now that the whole point of the Lincoln Project and its ilk is to just make the Democratic Party more conservative. And to be frank they haven't really needed help on that front. I've seen too many of them namedrop Reagan but never FDR. Kind of says it all.

I see "Auteur theory doesn't work in AAA gamedev, it's a team effort!" and other opinions like it said a lot, but it feels like it's promoting the idea that everyone that works on a game is interchangeable and can easily be replaced. Especially when coming from publishers.

It is the Democrats who decide whether trans people are going to be fighting Democrats or fighting Republicans. I think most of us would much *rather* fight Republicans. I'm also tired of pretending that they act like this out of polling-related reasons. Israel is unpopular. The Iran War is unpopular. The reversal of Roe v Wade was unpopular. Democrats do not really lift a finger to leverage any of this. But they're eager to sacrifice their constituency.

This for sure. I distinctly remember the ending of DBZ not really sitting that well with some people because it's just Goku blowing off everyone to train Uub for years, but it's like, that's who Goku has always been. Everything else comes second to him.

This was the time when Nintendo had the handheld market all to themselves, long after Sega bowed out and before Sony stepped in. And they phoned in the GBA hard bc there was no need to compete.

What stands out about the Zelda shot is how they cranked up the brightness to compensate for the original GBA's terrible screen. It's common across GBA games, and it makes everything look washed out. The GBA is the only mainstream console that I've ever hated specifically because of its hardware.

That's what's at the crux of this, and it manifests in the same way almost every time. Biden's support of Israel fried some of these cheerleaders' brains. I once saw one of these types lecturing somebody for being responsible for Republican policy like this, and when I retort that by this same logic it makes them responsible for thousands of Gazan deaths, they just went feral.

It even bothers me that Nintendo's arcade history is glossed over. Not just notable arcade-first titles like Punch Out, but even the VS System is kind of interesting in how it brings some new stuff to games that originated on the NES/FC.

So it's mostly a blind spot even to Sega enthusiasts and corporate today. Last time I looked them up, I saw that a few of those games got unceremoniously ported to one PS2 compilation and have never been seen again.

Until I started working on it I completely forgot that Sega was actually pretty big in the vector arcade game space for a while. It's super obscure not only because the tech was an evolutionary dead end, but because all of those games were made by the American side of the company (ex-Gremlin staff).
