Cautiously optimistic! I'm more on the horror side of DC/Vertigo personally (Constantine, Swamp Thing, etc.) and don't recognize a lot of what I'm seeing (besides the Thor stuff inspired by Norse mythos), but I'm heartened by the relative lack of spandex. Looks very MTG.

It's crazy how Mega Man is gearing up for its 40th anniversary next year while I, released the same year, can't possibly be that old.

If I won the lottery, I wouldn't tell anyone, but there would be signs. (I would purchase a playset of Mox Ambers.)

Crushed the Thursday night Standard Challenge with my build of Jund Sacrifice! No one else is playing Rottenmouth Viper, but it's super good in the deck. It enables big combo turns with Biotech, Baginses, and Voidborn, it's huge, it's an elemental! 🐍 #mtg #mtgStandard

People are paying hundreds of dollars to maintain competitive decks in a rotating format, not even considering the entry fees.

Sirhc Rockatansky @sirhcbte.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

IMO the baseline should be the most "pushed" mythic rare and rare from the showcased set, based on the institutional knowledge that 30+ years of the company designing the game oughta get you. Even if they guess incorrectly, at least it's a card in relatively short supply.

Planeswalker ensemble cast drama isn't to my tastes, but the warm reception the FRA story is getting makes me optimistic that Wizards will continue to go bigger and bolder with the story.

Yeah, WotC should be using their noggins and printing versions of mythics they anticipate to be chase cards. This is baloney.

Plus if we see more like this in the future, it may cause people to diversify their removal.

Sirhc Rockatansky @sirhcbte.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

I kinda like this design space, to be honest. I'd be less optimistic if the PW had a loyalty ability that directly interacted with the board. This is just a throttled value engine that you can remove with combat damage rather than spending a card.

Once in an Oathbreaker game, I got Sarkhan Vol off of a casting of Kamahl's Druidic Vow. I borrowed opponent's Blightsteel Colossus and then killed them with it. Nobody was expecting a Threaten out of the "Legendary Permanents" deck. Precious memories.

I would sometimes run Nahiri as dwarf kindred with my favorite deck name of all time: "Dwarves have a base speed of 20 feet, but their speed is never modified by armor or encumbrance." Lesser played... Koth of the Hammer with Siege of Towers, a Mono R control that I used to run as giant kindred.

Giant's Boulder is a really great card for Tron lists.

Giant's Boulder {1}

Artifact

When this artifact enters, scry 2. (Look at the top two cards of your library, then put any number of them on the bottom and the rest on top in any order.)

{1}, {T}: Add one mana of any color.

{7}, {T}, Sacrifice this artifact: Destroy target permanent.
