Did you know that the end of the Norwegian Viking Age is traditionally marked by the death of King Olav Haraldsson at the battle of Stiklestad (29/07/1030)? King Olav Haraldsson also founded Sarpsborg in 1016. The city celebrates his legacy with Olavsdagene - a living history festival - every year!

A picture of the first gullgubbe to have been found in the Vestland region in Norway. The tiny golden square is around 1cm and embossed on it are a stylised man and woman facing each other.
