One tricky thing about working with AI at any scale, personal agent or big company testing stuff, is really carefully thinking through how it does things and what guardrails you need to define. It's applying the "what could possibly go wrong" test on steroids.

I just booked a parking spot for a few days with an online company. Sending me a "how did we do" message & inviting me to complete a survey makes you look ridiculous. Just because someone bought something from you doesn't mean you should email them with your marketing needs. #Marketing101

I will say it is funny watching OpenAI boast about solving a complex math problem using millions of dollars of compute (and someone else’s work) all while remaining unable to solve the most obvious math problem (how to make their services profitable)

The useful takeaway isn’t “72 ranking factors to optimise”. It’s how much local search depends on Google understanding the business as an entity — its location, relevance, relationships and supporting evidence across the web. Local SEO is increasingly about coherence, not tricks.

Interesting and realistic interview with the CEO of Reach, who no longer wants reach, and now wants paid subscription revenue, as Google traffic is just in freefall due to AI. Problem is trying to get people to pay premium prices for outlets that were trashed in the 2010s rush for cheap clicks.

Google loses host privilege for AI Overviews on three grounds in Munich
Fabricated source links, self-contained answers and a protection gap drove the ruling. The reasoning shows where liability for generative search now begins.

"Word 2003 had far too many toolbars." (Source.)
A screenshot of Word 2003. This screenshot has 27 toolbars, a menu (with only seven items) that you have to expand for some reason, very few text labels, tiny icons, and no obvious way to chord from one page to the next. Each toolbar is coded different, so they are of varying widths, some are floating, some are up top while some are down below, and one is a side pane for some reason. That's not to say anything about the dozens of controls hidden within the menu proper. The tiny text editing area, dwarfed by the dozens of toolbars with dozens of controls, reads: "It is getting a bit crowded in here!"
