Spending my birthday relaxing, painting, drinking watermelon juice, and reading fic. Here’s a little thing I painted today.

After almost 3 months, I’m finally free of my compression binder. Crossing my fingers that my healing keeps moving forward and I won’t need any additional procedures. Despite the slow healing and a few setbacks, it’s so nice to have a flat chest. 🏳️‍🌈💖🏳️‍🌈

Hannibal Lecter had a green thumb, vibrant and tender. He had a greenhouse that he tended to with deep pride, once giving Will a tour of all the thriving plants in the humid building.

"The trick is," he had said, gently caressing a rose leaf, the flower a dainty delicate pink with a fruity scent, "to always ensure the soil has nutrients. It may sound silly and obvious, but most people forget. Bloodmeal and bonemeal will always give my soil the perfect amount of calcium and iron. Always."

Will looked back on that moment and tried not to think about how many people became mulch. Waste not, want not, he supposed.

Kids will devour vast amounts of garbage (and it is good for them) but they are not like adults: they have not yet learned to eat plastic.

It’s now April 27th. It’s been a full month since I got my top surgery. Healing is slow and steady, but definitely still a ways to go. I’m counting down the days until I’m allowed to sleep on my side normally and can get cleared to start exercising — I want to start swimming at the Y again.
