About a week ago I was at a fundraiser for Seeing Red and my donation won me a raffle bag with this signed photograph of Artina Darkly and other neat goodies! (Even though I never win things!) Even the bag itself is pretty awesome! They're halfway to their funding goal so please donate and repost.
A raffle prize bag I won during the Seeing Red fundraiser arranged on a wood slatted table showing a signed photograph of Artina Darkly held to the table to avoid blowing in the wind by a candle on one corner and a book on the other. The book is "Not Your Rescue Project" and the bag is a branded Outlaw Media bag whose screen print of two cats talking reads, "Sex work is bad," with the other cat responding, "Yes, all work is."

Sex workers' rights are under attack across Europe and Central Asia. 🇸🇪 In 2025, despite receiving overwhelming opposition,, Sweden criminalised the clients of online sex work (e.g. OnlyFans). Just as we feared, this dangerous precedent started a new wave of attacks on sex workers' rights.

The underlying ideology is that, on the one hand, poverty is simply insufficient aptitude with money and/or a lack of 'smarts'; and on the other, that wealth is necessarily a result of aptitude with money and/or 'smarts'. Cf. this Kurt Vonnegut quote. #auspol #poverty
"Quote by Kurt Vonnegut:
"America is the wealthiest nation on Earth, but its people are mainly poor, and poor Americans are urged to hate themselves. To quote the American humorist Kin Hubbard, 'It ain't no disgrace to be poor, but it might as well be.' It is in fact a crime for an American to be poor, even though America is a nation of poor. Every other nation has folk traditions of men who were poor but extremely wise and virtuous, and therefore more estimable than anyone with power and gold. No such tales are told by the American poor. They mock themselves and glorify their betters. The meanest eating or drinking establishment, owned by a man who is himself poor, is very likely to have a sign on its wall asking this cruel question: 'If you're so smart, why ain't you rich?' There will also be an American flag no larger than a child's hand - glued to a lollipop stick and flying from the cash register.
"Americans, like human beings everywhere, believe many things that are obviously untrue. Their most destructive untruth is that it is very easy for any American to make money. They will not acknowledge how in fact hard money is to come by, and, therefore, those who have no money blame and blame and blame themselves. This inward blame has been a treasure for the rich and powerful, who have to do do less for their poor, publicly and privately, than any other ruling class since, say Napoleonic times. Many novelties have come from America. The most startling of these, a thing without precedent, is a mass of undignified poor. They do not love one another because they do not love themselves."

Also it's expensive being poor. Cheaper stuff breaks more often (and is more often subjected to planned obsolescence) but poor people can't afford the more reliable stuff.

You can't budget your way out wealth inequality poverty and wage theft. People gotta let that stuff go. It has also been proven anytime when programs give people money they get out of being homeless or dealing with poverty so people know what the answer is.

PSA: Stop telling impoverished folks to get "better" with money. Saving money requires time and money to begin with. Many folks can't do certain money-saving "tips" because those require time...time spent working. Poverty is a cycle for a reason.
