Exobiology is quite time consuming

I love the Cobra Mk V so much Issue with the midnight black skin is you can't hardly see it heh

The Anaconda is still cool but now it's all about the Caspian Explorer

Anyway I'm gonna switch to my Cobra V and do some exobio for a bit.

Just bought the class A thrusters for this thing and I'm living on the edge (look at my credit balance vs. the insurance cost)

I'm not entirely sure why the Panther Clipper feels so much nicer to fly than the Type-9, but I think it has to do with the increased hauling capacity without much loss of maneuverability. Also it's very expensive

Gotta be careful saying HOSAS in polite company

Mine is so boring. “Buys computer components. Periodically upgrades their computer. Likely builds and customizes audio systems. Buys premium physical media.”

Silver Candycorn 💛🧡🤍 @silveralicorn.online · 09/10/2026

I thought briefly about trying Thrustmaster instead, but their HOSAS solution costs the same and has fewer buttons with worse placement

If you’ve never played Orbiter, it is the most realistic space simulator ever, with all that entails. Really fun and satisfying doing a landing at KSC once you know how to do it though.

Silver Candycorn 💛🧡🤍 @silveralicorn.online · 09/10/2026

Basically MSFS is dead to me because of the BDS boycott, and I'm not interested in DCS or War Thunder, so that leaves Elite Dangerous, Orbiter and Flight of Nova, so a twin stick setup makes more sense. Oh and Star Citizen I guess, lol

Silver Candycorn 💛🧡🤍 @silveralicorn.online · 09/10/2026

I've decided what I want, I'm going for a twin stick setup (standard right, angled left) and 2 expansion modules so I'll have a ton of axes and switches and stuff Now I just need the courage to press the buy button haha

Someone should buy me a Hammond XK-7D and also bully me into learning to play it

Weird how LLMs make 50,000 LOC diffs, or 3d models w/ millions of tris, like they are awful at precise tasks a trained human can do easily

Dang it I confused Ian Macleod and Ken Macleod again

Silver Candycorn 💛🧡🤍 @silveralicorn.online · 07/10/2026

For a good time go ahead and read the Lightspeed Trilogy by Ian MacLeod. It’s some of the best writing since the Culture novels.

Now that I'm playing some Elite again, I sorta want to get myself a new HOTAS as an early holiday gift. So many possibilities though

I should make another big prog rock song, I’ve learned so much. I want to play with drums again!

@sumac.bsky.social hopped on Elite and helped me finish hauling materials to that station, and we finished right before I had to go to bed! Now to figure out what to make next (I can't pretend to fully understand the colonization mechanics)

“I’m sorry Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that” and “‘My god, it’s full of stars!” are a bit obvious so I’ll also drop a “Do you read Sutter Cane?” in there too
