There have been a lot of folk asking about our financials. So I think it's time we put out a statement. Please keep in mind this is something we are actively working on and details are subject to change.

Then again, I might just keep trucking along. I'll find out as I take the time to think about things and make up my mind closer to the end of the marathon.

After I finish my Dragon Quest-a-thon, I think I'm going to quit streaming. Don't get me wrong, I love to do it; but I'm just not entertaining enough and day after day of no viewers to interact with is tanking my mental health. I've been streaming for 20+ years, and i have almost no community.

Stream went better. Still dropping frames like a mofo, but not as many as last night.

First stream on Altstream went decently well, minus the 70k dropped frames. I'll have to do some tweaking of settings and try again sometime.

Decomp communities are a canary in the coal mine for romhacking communities. SMW central has been around for 25 years and there's deep human ties but we will continue to play fuckin hardball when it comes to AI because it will eat a place from the inside out otherwise.

with the sunsetting of decomp.dev, people really need to come to terms with just how much damage vibecoders have done to our community and OSS in general. encounter is a fellow dusklight dev and friend, and seeing people treat him as replaceable in the scene is upsetting.

James Hetfield crashing out like that hurts. Metallica were a big part of my youth. The first 4 albums were always in rotation on my playlists. They had some good songs on subsequent albums (except St. Anger. They experimented and failed.) with Death Magnetic being a return to their roots.

If I see one more cis person tell me I have to keep living, I'm gonna slap em. Fight for us god damn it. Be outspoken, challenge bigotry, do the shit that will actually make a difference. People dont kill themselves because no one told them not to. Fight to make our lives capable of being lived.

Day 1 in the books. Got pretty far in Dragon Quest I. Day 2 is finishing it up and starting Dragon Quest II. Also gave SnekStudio a try and it came through like a champ. Though for some reason, face tracking is broken for me.

unfortunately another dis-incentive for me to continue to play Castlevania, but I will see this one out and then swap to Resident Evil as my next retrohorror thing....

screenshot from Twitch dashboard showing 'muted audio' on a 4 hour stream called My first ever playthrough of Circle of the Moon continues. This shows that the audio was muted (which is because Konami is claiming the music on Castlevania now)

Next Sunday marks the start of my annual Dragon Quest-a-thon! I'll be playing through a bunch of Dragon Quest games on stream. 1-3 for the SFC, remake of 4 for the PS1, 9 for DS, and if I can get it working, possibly 11 for Steam. It'll all take place over at joystick.tv/t/u/SilkySof...

Dude, this is genuinely so fucking disappointing. Nearly all of the commits I’ve seen for PPSSPP involve generative AI from Claude in the past week alone, and their entire newest dev blog is almost entirely written by Claude. Almost half of the commits in the past 3 months use Claude for AI code.

Translation patches aren't a fucking checklist for flag planting. Demands for "fluency" and "technical chops" aren't gatekeeping. Anyone who learns the skills is welcome to contribute. If you bypass them, you're just having a tantrum at the expense of the original devs and foreign players. Piss off.

PSA: be careful streaming any Konami games on Twitch going forward. AFAIK they put a bunch of their music on Spotify and/or some other services, and people are getting absolutely blasted with VOD mutes (meaning large sections of past broadcasts will have no audio *at all*)
