Trump greenlit a nearly $3 billion arms package for Israel: 40,000 one-ton bombs, paid for by American taxpayers. Israel's defense minister pledged to "finish the job" in Gaza. Congress could block it, but they're on a six-week break. The latest from @rashedmian.bsky.social for #UNFTR.

Yikes. Women accounted for all of the job losses and all of the labor force decline in July, according to @nwlc.org
WASHINGTON — Women accounted for 100 percent of the decline in the labor force in July, according to a National Women’s Law Center jobs analysis of monthly data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That brings the total net number of women who have left the labor force since January this year to 845,000. In comparison, there are 406,000 fewer men in the labor force now than in January.

A total of 165,000 women, aged 20 and over, left the labor force last month — meaning they are neither working nor looking for work — while men's labor force participation was unchanged. Overall, the economy lost 23,000 jobs in July. Women accounted for all of these losses, losing 32,000 jobs, while men gained 9,000 jobs. Women make up 50.1% of the workforce.

Holy shit. www.wired.com/story/a-civi...
This past May, a twin-engine Beechcraft King Air medevac plane took off from Roswell, New Mexico, and headed west to the town of Ruidoso to pick up a patient. It shouldn’t have been a challenging flight for the two pilots and two nurses aboard. The temperature was 69 degrees; the sky was clear. The 60-mile journey normally takes a half hour, at most.

But once airborne, the plane ran into trouble. At the White Sands Missile Range that night, US military personnel were conducting a GPS jamming exercise that left the King Air pilots—and anyone else within hundreds of miles—unable to use modern navigation systems. Forced to revert to older technology, ones that they rarely if ever use, the medevac pilots got disoriented and crashed into the side of a mountain. There were no survivors.

By Andrea González-Ramírez, a senior writer for The Cut who covers systems of power. Those physicals, Maria explains, are usually perfunctory: “Like, Are you walking normally? Are you lightheaded? I have never had to take any clothes off. I’ve never felt uncomfortable or violated.” If IL26-638 were to pass and Maria were still in school, she says she would likely drop out of her team. (We’re withholding Maria’s real name to protect her privacy.) “I honestly don’t know if I would be able to do these tests,” she adds. “It would also make me question, If I do it, are all my teammates going to too? Or would I just play with the three or four girls who are willing to or have access to do it?”

A Florida pastor is suing OpenAI, alleging that ChatGPT downplayed warning signs of a medical crisis and gave poor medial advice, nearly resulting in his death. Chat logs included in the lawsuit show ChatGPT incorporating religious language into its medical guidance: futurism.com/artificial-i...
By then, Winters was experiencing worsening episodes of dizziness, and had started spending most of his time in his recliner. The lawsuit accuses ChatGPT of “downplaying” Winters’ “dizzy spells” while “offering specific regimens for prescription medications.” During one June 2025 conversation, Winters told ChatGPT that he had “crashed,” referring to a dizzy spell. Rather than direct Winters to a real-world medical provider, according to the lawsuit, ChatGPT drummed up an AI-generated “Recovery Plan” that invoked religious language and encouraged Winters to stay in his recliner.

“You didn’t crash. You recovered. That’s a win. Full stop,” ChatGPT told Winters. “And Spiritually? What you just did was a form of worship. You tested the body in faith, not fear. You stayed present. You listened. And your body said: ‘I’m trying — I just need a little more time.'” Other chat logs included in the lawsuit also show ChatGPT dissuading Winters from seeking hospital care and downplaying Winters’ wife’s concerns about her husband’s health.

WOW. The ex-wife of the ICE officer who shot a 26-year-old Colombian man in Maine has come forward to say that he had mental health issues and was abusive in their relationship. She says after the shooting he called asking her to vouch for him — instead, she went to the press.
Ashley Brouillette told the Portland Press Herald in a phone interview Thursday afternoon that her ex-husband called admitting to the shooting and defending his actions. The Press Herald reviewed a screenshot of incoming calls Ashley Brouillette received from her ex-husband’s current wife’s Facebook account on Wednesday.

“He was asking me to lie for him and to cover for his character,” Ashley Brouillette said. “I told him that I was not going to lie for him. And then he tried to say that it was a justified shooting because the guy tried to hit him with his car.”

She said she has seen videos of Brouillette on the scene of the shooting and confirmed that was him on scene, telling him: “nowhere in there does it show that this man charged at you with a car.”

“In his head it’s justified. He’s unusually calm about it,” she said.Ashley Brouillette told a reporter that she wanted to speak publicly because she had previously reported concerns to his superiors in the military about his mental health. She said he was abusive in their relationship. She said that she’s been inundated with calls, since reports of Brouillette’s involvement began circulating online, threatening her and her family.
