I really enjoyed presenting to @vassar.bsky.social students this morning in their climate solutions class! Thank you @jeffsseidman.bsky.social for inviting me back a second year and I can't wait to come back again in the future! These will be our next generation of climate leaders!

Working with an unlicensed contractor is a lot like buying street food. It’s cheaper than the nice restaurant, sometimes it’s really good, but sometimes it tastes better going in than coming out.

Rebate programs come and go & a big one in the LA area just came back. In <1 week more than half the funds have already been claimed! So we sent out a frantic email monday night helping all of our @vayu.pro LA customers jump on it. If you want a heat pump in LA, this might be your moment!

Will I see you at the Heat Pump Summit? I'm excited to join some really smart people (Eric at Amply, Piers at SeeAir) in a panel about tech-enabled heat pump business models. Some secret sauce might come out, so you'll have to join us in person to get the scoop! PS: use code SS26 to save on tix!

We talk a lot about speed and scale when it comes to solar, batteries, and heat pumps. And it's warranted! We need to decarbonize fast, and there's a lot of work to do. There's >1.5 million gas furnaces in the SF Bay Area alone that we need to replace with heat pumps. (1/many) 🧵

The shirts turned out great! But we would definitely have been in better shape, paid less, and been way less stressed if we’d planned ahead.

@vayu.pro turned 2 years old today! And what a ride it has been. Some highlights... 🧵 - We've installed dozens of heat pumps across California - We're live in 2 markets (the whole SF Bay Area and LA), and gearing up for our first pilots in a third (western Sacramento) (1/6)

It's been exactly 3 days since WIRED called our group buy "a Costco for heat pumps" and our inboxes have not recovered. If you're looking to upgrade to a heat pump, check out heatpumpgroupbuy.com. We can't promise a $1.50 hot dog, but we can promise a pretty darn good deal on a heat pump.

AI explains quantum physics, but heat pump quotes? It mostly regurgitates marketing copy. No two quotes are alike, and brand matters much less than everything else in the fine print. Got a quote lately? What melted your brain? We’re building a guide at @heatpumped.org and would love your input.

First up, heat pump = AC and furnace had a baby🐣🍼

Two Jobs. One System.
your furnace and your AC had a baby It's called a heat pump. A heat pump heats your home in winter and cools it in summer -
it's a furnace and an AC rolled into one.

“My kids huddle around it and watch the fire. It makes me a little worried, maybe I should put a safety barrier around it?” I had a concerned parent tell me this when I was explaining how heat pumps work. Not only are all-electric heat pumps efficient, but they’re the safest way to heat your home

A tale of two heat pumps. If your only criteria when evaluating HVAC bids is cost, you might be setting yourself up for a world of hurt down the line.

071

Shreyas Sudhakar @shreyassudhakar.com · 16/01/2026

Getting a heat pump can be scary! It's a big part of why we've built with a digital-first sales process. For most customers, we're able to accurately price projects without ever stepping foot in their house. One less excuse to take a sick day home from work...

020

Shreyas Sudhakar @shreyassudhakar.com · 14/01/2026

Most small HVAC business owners aren't laughing their way to the bank. It takes a lot to run a business like this - tools, equipment, salaries, insurance policies. All of that adds up. If you get sticker shock when you get a heat pump quote, many times it's simply the cost of doing business

152

Shreyas Sudhakar @shreyassudhakar.com · 12/01/2026

I love when we get 5 star reviews on Google. But sometimes a handwritten note from a @vayu.pro customer is even more rewarding! Another happy heat pump owner :)

071

Shreyas Sudhakar @shreyassudhakar.com · 09/01/2026

Being small is an unfair advantage. Every single call, text and email at @vayu.pro‬ goes straight to my cell phone. No call centers, no answering service. In a world where most HVAC contractors never return your calls, it's a huge win. (PS: Yes, I know, I'll charge my phone!)

🧵2/ In the 1950s, GE and Westinghouse backed a national program where builders earned a Gold Medallion for homes that were 100% electric: heat, hot water, cooking, lighting. It was massive — 900+ utilities, 180 manufacturers. This was mainstream housing. Ronald Reagan was the spokesman!

171

Shreyas Sudhakar @shreyassudhakar.com · 07/01/2026

🧵1/ I had to double take when I spotted this plaque: “Medallion Home — Live Better Electrically.” Turns out it was part of a major national campaign in the 1950s and early 60s to promote all-electric homes. 👇

Electrifying doesn't have to be hard. That's my dinner last night, being cooked on an induction wok sitting on top of my gas range. Just 50 bucks from Costco! And zero CO, CH4, NO2, N2⁢O or CH2O (yes - your gas stove dumps all of those things into the air you breathe).
