A very much incorrect scheme of the formation of ozone. Lewis structures "oxygen radicals" are depicted as species with 6 paired electrons; and the Lewis structures for ozone itself are funny-looking.Like I say, he was funny-lookin'.

Cell (the journal) desperately needs editors who understand clinical trials. JAMA, Lancet, BMJ, NEJM etc are far from perfect, but I think that most clinical trials reported in Cell would get laughed out of the room at these other journals who take trials seriously.

(4/x) I want to mention RSC as well. Out of the 30 reports I filed with them, all but 1 have not been addressed. ACS does address a lot more articles than most publishers, but basically never retracts anything. They have accepted corrections so blatantly covering up fraud it's frankly embarrassing.

(3/x) The picture changes quite a bit if we look at corrections, EoC's and retractions combined. T&F although remains very low. Basically: Almost nothing I reported in the last 2 years has been addressed by T&F at all.

But a recurring pattern is that @tandfresearch.bsky.social and @sagepub.com almost never retract. That feels kind of weird to have to group them with predatory publishers in that regard... Here's the proportion of retracted papers among the 600+ crap that I reported to EiC over the last years ⤵️

I'm experimenting with a co-author basic network analysis to explore dubious quality publication. Last year we reported a (now retracted) review by Abdur Rauf, then we found faked systematic reviews by Talha Bin Emran. Now checking the other high degree authors in the network...

MAHA has been partisan since its inception, because the concept of MAHA as a general movement didn’t really exist until RFK Jr. co-opted the slogan, which happened *after* he’d bent the knee to Donald Trump. Before that, it was just groups of “health freedom” advocates, quacks, and antivaxxers.

Yeah, I've dealt with a publisher not wanting to issue a correction (statmodeling.stat.columbia.edu/2020/12/10/i...). But in this case, I doubt the psych science editors are hesitant. Which is why I'm curious what the delay is.
