I wish I could say that this was a new co-optation of this sort of rhetoric by antivaxxers, but it's not. Before the pandemic, antivaxxers were co-opting the language of reproductive freedom (e.g., "my body, my choice") in the service of the "freedom" to refuse vaccines.

Indeed. Also, a lot of NIH’s problems could be fixed with more funding (or at least budget increases that keep up with biomedical inflation), so that the paylines aren’t so tight that whether your application is funded or not is akin to winning the lottery.
