MAME's emulation code involves describing the hardware, which is often done imperfectly to get things working with the assumption of improper implementation being better than things just not working. So these guys tell the LLM to re-create it with the same assumptions, and do their own workarounds

Sure, I can make a distinction between MiSTer cores that are pure vibe coded MAME ports vs. ones that use some mix of LLM and human engineering, but the whole promise of the MiSTer that excited me was reproductions of hardware from sickos who were decapping ICs, not "good enough" emulation on FPGAs

Incredibly, my to-do list for SQXL is now clear. All that's left is to update consoles/PCs (that I can't even do fully yet.) The team's come so far.

Reason i ask this btw is that unfortunately, First Attack 2026 (Which is the event that i am working on for the BYOC brackets) has posted a series of AI generated slop for their promo instead of hiring actual local artists that ik there are plenty of. Like wtf are we even doing here?

A screenshot of an Instagram post from the official First Attack account where it shows an AI generated image of the 2 main First Attack humanoids doing the Justin Wong/Chun Li pose meme while the background is obviously an AI generated version of the event.

The comments on the right are not happy about it
