There are two problems here, one eternal and one novel. The eternal problem is humanity’s preference for self-validation. Left to our own devices we seek out ideas that flatter our biases and resentments, reinforce our own notions of how the world works. Crowds develop manias, they hallucinate.

The funniest thing about Hegseth is that I don't think that there's a time in history where having soldiers who are physically strong and have a ton of testosterone means so little. What you need are smart people who can create and manage machines that kill large numbers of enemies.
