Oh boy, is this the day my 2 Line commute is finally disrupted? Arrival times at Symphony have been stuck like this for ~10 minutes, platform is getting more and more crowded, and no service alerts so far.

Is it just me or do the multilingual onboard announcements about priority seating only fire when crossing the lake? I don’t think I’ve ever heard them on the 1 Line or any other segment of the 2 Line. #soundtransit

Just took RapidRide G for the first time. What a great route. Definitely not rapid (let alone BRT) though.

In the early 2000s, transit ridership levels in the Atlanta and Seattle urban areas were quite similar. Since then, the two regions have experienced dramatic change: While Seattle's ridership is 70% higher than back then, Atlanta's is 40% lower. www.thetransportpolitic.com/databook/us-...

I feel like all the 3-car trains disappeared from the 2 Line after the World Cup.

It's not even the occurrence of the occasional @sound-transit.bsky.social system failure that bothers me, but the utter lack of communication and transparency that seems to always follow.

In my professional experience, I’ve found this sort of extreme aversion to risk and insecurity to have much worse (but maybe less tangible) effects than being open and honest about mistakes, owning them, and learning from them. Trust isn’t gained by hiding failure, but by openly learning from it.

As a non-progressive (evil word: conservative, actually more classical liberal), it's fascinating to be in the world of urbanist discourse. I don't see the left-right divide magically healing but there are so many shared points of common cause when it comes to infrastructure + the built environment.

Seattle proposes doubling transit tax to improve bus service
Hyping transit access as “freedom through mobility,” Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson unveiled a plan Wednesday to double the city’s tax that supports bus service, street cars, and free ORCA cards.

I am a major proponent of expanded bus service and BRT, but rail bias is completely real - even when controlling for all factors like speed, frequency, reliability, and dedicated guideway - and it does us no good to ignore that simple fact.

Right now no eastbound 2 Line trains are coming (presumably due to single tracking earlier) and not a single platform announcement has been made. Another example of weak comms procedures from @sound-transit.bsky.social.

I keep hearing: "Link is slower than _ from A to B" (insert mode of choice). Perhaps objectively true but it has also greatly expanded the utility of travelers in the service area. In other words, if your commute sucking 10% more gives thousands others better options, it's a good tradeoff.

Took my family out on the part of the Eastrail that hooks around Sound Transit's OMF East. First time doing so. Saw parts of Bellevue I've never seen before. Had dinner at Whole Foods, took Link back up one station to Spring District and it was a full train. I think the Eastside is bought in.

Sound Transit has a survey up around the realignment of the ST3 plan. It's very high level and doesn't ask about specific projects, but does have an open form question at the end where you can list your priorities. soundtransit.sjc1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...

Granted this is just a single observation (on a Friday no less) but I’m on a 550 eastbound leaving downtown and it is EMPTY. Methinks passengers are ready to reinvest those service hours elsewhere.

Spectacular high-resolution image of our home planet viewed through the Orion Crew Module window by the Artemis II astronauts as they continue their journey to the Moon on Flight Day 2, 3 April 2026 (pic: NASA) A full disc image of Earth, as seen from the Orion Crew Module. The planet is a pale blue, swirling with white clouds and glowing slightly lighter blue in place from reflected light. At lower left, a large brown landmass is Africa, with Spain and Portugal with twinkling lights where the planet curves. At top right, auroras glow in a thin green glow, just barely separated from the planet's surface. Earth is set against the black of space (pic: NASA/R.Wiseman)

Top floor of South Bellevue P&R. Definitely not at capacity (unsurprising given how massive this thing is) but I expect it to fill out more as the 2 Line ridership base stabilizes and the Fall service changes go into effect.

On an eastbound 2 Line train headed back to the Eastside at 2:30p and I’d estimate around 100 per car on a 3-car train, which is 6 articulated buses with every seat occupied.

Around 15 board at South Bellevue bound for Lynnwood. Light but it’s early and at these headways, I’d imagine ridership will smash that of the competing segment of the 550.

Good luck to anyone trying to get from downtown Seattle back to the Eastside. The reroute directions are supremely unclear and operators are unnecessarily driving on streets not graded to support 60’ artics. @kingcountymetro.bsky.social / @sound-transit.bsky.social
