I’m participating in the Economic Boycott on Friday Feb 28th. I hope it’s possible to join us. We have the power to push back.
Light turquoise blue image - with big restraint with black marks like fur - with big black letters at to saying “Economic Boycott” white letters inside black text bubbles that say “don’t buy stuff Friday Feb 28” & “We have power” - then additional black words below that say “no Amazon, Walmart, Target, Fast-food, Gas” then “Ok small businesses” and “use cash” - additional black icons in various locations on top of the blue background - power symbol, dollar sign, tear drop, circle, star, clover, two circles.

One thing that isn’t talked about enough is how closely tied disability can be to homelessness. Many disabled people are forced into poverty in order to keep their medical benefits. By doing so, the income they receive isn’t enough to live off of. This isn’t a moral failing, it’s the system’s fault.

Not only is disability tax very real - the system is designed to keep us in poverty. Everything costs more, we have a higher number of emergency expenses, and we’re prohibited from earning extra money (and in some cases we can’t even inherit or fundraise). It’s a terrifying & precarious situation.

Not one word of my solicited response to NYT columnist Thomas Edsall's election post-mortem made it to print. So, here are his questions to me and my answers:
Anat,

Does the election outcome suggest that class has begun to outweigh racial and ethnic identity and this trend is working to the advantage of Republicans? If so, is the 2024 Republican coalition a viable and sustainable coalition?

Did the election reveal the fragility and vulnerability of the Democrats upstairs (well-educated, largely white)/downscale (disproportionately minority) coalition?

Have the cultural values of white liberals become a liability to the Democratic Party?

How much trouble in the Democratic Party in?

Has the feminization of the Democratic Party become a liability?

Any thoughts welcome, Best Tom
