I had a wonderful time chatting with Dr. Joseph Zackular about Cdiff, the ecological aspects of infectious disease, and working at the interface of microbiology and medicine. Can’t wait for this #MattersMicrobial podcast episode to be released. @univpugetsound @ASMicrobiology

New preprint on some of my dissertation work. Can’t do this without an amazing team of collaborators or mentor. Herein we use a genetically resistant mouse model to explore small intestinal colonization resistance to S. Tm, and the ability of diet to overcome genetic resistance. More to come!

Hello Bluesky! My name is Nic Shealy, a PhD candidate in the lab of @maribyndloss.bsky.social. I study bacterial metabolism and am enamored by microbe-microbe interactions and microbiota-host interactions! Not such a small world after all.
