Here's the animated version with all 3 photos: - pre-impact - 2021 with the fresh crater and rays - 2024 with a darkened aspect (may be due to the lightning too)

Here's the area in MUTED, the crater is visible in the HIRISE 2021 and 2024 footprints. The surrounding hills are a good reference point in the huge HIRISE strip: ⁨https://muted.uni-muenster.de/?x=76.196&y=18.950&z=2413&ch=11.9&cp=-89.1&d=102&b1=18.9443&b2=18.9565&b3=76.1921&b4=76.2018⁩
My own annotated location in the hilly region where the mini-crater can be found. I called it c' at the time, it's actually closer to impact c than e.Closer view of the 2021 HIRISE photo with the mini-crater up-center, Fresh bright material on a sea of regolith around hilly terrain.

We got clouded out of the partial maximum, but we were at least treated to some sundogs at the start. Mr Son had better luck further up North (4th photo).
Sun & parhelia, the eclipse was at just 10%.Partly clouded maximum we got to see, reflected on a sheet of paper.Eclipsed Sun disappeareing behind a thick cloud cover.Partial maximum from northern Sweden captured with a phonecam, the green artifact showing the actual extent.

The OP photo of rocks on the Martian surface. If you put your mind to it, it looks like a sloth creature of sorts coming out of the sand.Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars in a similar pose. Not really a muppet but who cares 🙃

This was a great brief read, thx for sharing! This paragraph's legibility was a bit off, but easy to guess what you meant. If there's still a chance for corrections 😉
"We now know that HCl abundances [abundance?] can be between 2 and 8 ppbv and that it exhibits a strong seasonality, appearing when it [during?] the spring and summer in the southern hemisphere, with peak abundances occurring between 200° and 300°. The timing is the most likely may explain [reason?] why these teams were unable to find HCl, but set such low upper limits for the gas"

From 2022: 'Estelas" Fingerpainted on tablet with #SketchbookApp Study of the imho best unprocessed photo by #PerseveranceRover: mars.nasa.gov/mars2020-raw... Last one, thx @jayispainting.earthskyart.ca for all your work and engagement making #ArtAdventCalendar a joy here! #ArtAdventCalendar2025
Digital painting of the Three Forks area of Jezero Crater, with the rover's tracks visible.

Cliché but appropriate Spanish poem by Antonio Machado:
"Caminante, son tus huellas
el camino y nada más;
Caminante, no hay camino,
se hace camino al andar.
Al andar se hace el camino,
y al volver la vista atrás
se ve la senda que nunca
se ha de volver a pisar.
Caminante, no hay camino
sino estelas en la mar."

An imagined pencil-drawn science paper figure displaying 4 examples of individual Martian spherules. The ones on the left as observed by Opportunity: a smooth "blueberry" and a layered concretion. "Spire Summit Selfie" The #JezeroAstrotourists at their literal peak of "obnoxious touristing" 🙃 Styluspainted on tablet with #SketchbookApp #ArtAdventCalendar #SpaceArt
Digital painting of an imagined selfie by an astrotourist standing at the minimal top of the "spire" (from an earlier post in this thread). The photographer is posing while using a selfie-stick. Their companion is dangling from the edge. The Jezero outer rim is in the background under leaden skies, the wide lens from the camera distorting it in such a way that it seems as if we were within the crater instead.

"Subliminal Turquino", another (wide!) entry in the #JezeroAstrotourists series. Styluspainted on tablet with #SketchbookApp #ArtAdventCalendar
Digital painting resembling the view Perseverance rover got of Jezero Crater from Pico Turquino, done without reference so don't expect feature accuracy ;-) We see two astrotourists retracing the rover's tracks up the rim. One of them stands in the foreground contemplating a dust-covered ad sign placed in front of the Pico Turquino outcrop. The sign says "mvian" and has the same logotype format than Evian bottled water: three Alpine peak silhouettes arranged in a Turquino-like configuration.

Had the rover been slightly higher, it would have caught this "monolith"/"spire" again (left, on a ridge). I also thought it was an artifact at first, but it's been imaged multiple sols (here sol 1368). Nothing sci-fi abt it but impressive it's still standing 😉 Source: mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/mul...
Rotated and color adjusted crop of the linked photo, low res. At the bottom of a faraway mountain, a number of apparently sedimentary outcrops and ridges can be seen, possibly on the old Neretva channel. To the left, a tall vertical remnant stands on a ridge.

The "translucent ripples" effect, I hadn't felt it since the Valinor ripples where Ingenuity now lays.
