Just visited a fabulous exhibition in Stockholm on japanese yokai and stories surrounding them and their links to cultural values at the ethnographic museum.

Spend half a year preparing for a swedish national science grant based on a well-scored rejected draft from a year ago. Received this week 5 numbers (rubric score) with no further explanations as my score was not high enough for even a sentence of feedback. So feeling a bit bummed out.

Summer is nearly upon Sweden, some nice walk today to get my head a bit to relax
View of a lake with blue sky and some white clouds. At the edges of the lake, forrest stretches along it's shore. In the foreground two rocks are visible and water reflections in the brown iron heavy water. In the distance a small boat leans into the lake from the shoreline.

Spent the entire last week at #CHI26 in Barcelona. For me the conference feels too big and weirdly narrow in what was presented. I know that LLMs are huge right now but nearly all posters/ papers were about some take on integrating existing LLMs into some other thing. Barcelona is pretty though

I met with AI data labelers in Kenya who are organizing their colleagues to fight the brutal working conditions and horrible pay given to the workers at the "bottom of the AI supply chain." They believe the NDAs they've signed are unenforceable so are speaking out: www.404media.co/ai-is-africa...

COMIC: What Artists Do
PANEL 1: A black woman with a grey streak in her curly hair, stands at a canvas on an easel, holding a paint bush.
Narration text: PAINTER
WOMAN: Give me a canvas and I will lift your imagination!

PANEL 2: A latino man with thinning grey hair and a thick grey mustache, holds a book open.
Narration text: AUTHOR
MAN: Give me a page, and I will transport your soul!

PANEL 3: A young red headed woman sits ona stool, wearing a plaid shirt and holding a guitar.
Narration text: MUSICIAN
WOMAN: Give ma a microphone, and I will fill your heart!

PANEL 4: A portly man with long, stringy brown-grey hair, wearing denim overalls without a shirt, holds a finger in the air while motioning to his computer screen, where an image of Darth Vader is shown. Vader is holding up two thumbs up, and has 6 nipples down his front, protruding like that one terrible Batman costume.
Narration text: A.I. ARTIST
Man: Give me two server farms powered by a hydroelectric dam, and Imma generate a Vader with six nipples.

You are right with the whole toc but in their proceedings systems you can filter by topic and then it feels similar in scale to aiide. So yes, the entire catalogue would kill me and I also do not care about a lot of topics and still get interesting variety after the filter.

For some models this could be the shared user profile though, so the extra information the user does not enter into the prompt to create the soft prompt.

Yes that is true but the point is that for a project I am looking into, the outputs and the activations are available. I am also not entirely sure how well it works because I did not dig in sufficiently but if you get activations you should be able to reconstruct the input, not the training data.

The key issue for me would be what you define as intelligent? If you mean perceived behaviour from a human observer, I think that is possible. Additionally, we attribute a lot to embodiment so we would need a cat-ish robot body as well.

Not necessarily, I have heard that also from musicians and performers, for music I think your argument holds especially considering the high degree of Automation in Mainstream music for performance it feels different as genAI can't easily replace a performance.

I think one of the most frustrating things about announcements like this, as someone who has spent a lot of time on R&D teams in the game industry, is how many *genuinely groundbreaking* things get cast aside because they aren’t visually flashy and conversely how much money goes to stuff like this
