It's an alt-right pipeline that's been going on since 2015 or earlier, pre-gamergate. alt-right types have targeted every subculture and movement, furries, even feminists (see TERFS), and of course incels. It explains the weird ideas about masculinity and femininity, the isolating elements, etc

not to be generic older guy who turned to history cliche, but there's a book, Caligula, corruption of power, which suggests he did do it but not because he was crazy. essentially, he was mocking the senate (which he hated) saying none of them got there by legit means & were all as dumb as a horse
