Also as an aside, there’s a paragraph (with photo!) discussing how he benefited from a daily cold plunge in a local river. Later in the piece, once he’s off his SSRIs and feels like shit, he blames his mental state on the stomach bug he got from the polluted river water. What are we even doing here?

SSRIs shouldn’t be prescribed without serious consideration, especially for children. But they are safe, effective and have helped millions of people, including myself. Muddying the water with an anecdote like this is fucking infuriating and really highlights the insidiousness of the MAHA movement.

This article is messy, dangerous, and completely misleading. The author breezes by the fact the subject was taking Klonopin (NOT AN ANTIDEPRESSANT) and showed marked improvement after tapering off. He then proceeded to taper off Lexapro and felt worse, which is then blamed on the drug itself(???)
